Midi dresses and winter coats

Am quite keen to wear longer dresses for a change rather than knee length. I would be wearing mainly for dinners etc out not daytime. what happens with coats? . All my coats are knee length. I don't want to buy a new coat.

Yes the first pic on that thread is the look I feel I'd have. I have 2 lovely wool coats in charcoal and herringbone grey, knee length.

Years ago I used to have a long mid calf coat as that was the fashion then Mid-late 1970s. Then no one except the middle aged would wear knee length stuff.
