Black biker style boots

Catquest1 · 17/09/2019 19:00

I have a real hankering for some mid calf biker style boots.

Ive attached a link to some I quite like although Im wary that they seem FAR too reasonably priced - Im very much a "buy and wear for years and years" person so would rather spend more on something that will last more than 1 autumn/winter.

Has anyone seen any or bought a pair that theyve really rated?

They’re nice . I’ve had rocket dog boots before and they’ve lasted well. Shame my size 4 is more expensive else I would order those too !

Eminybob · 17/09/2019 20:00

I like them, but I wouldn’t buy Rocket Dog again as I had a pair of Chelsea boots from them last year and the heal collapsed after a few months. I don’t think the quality is that great.

I think if you want long lasting then you need to pay a bit more and go real leather (if you’re happy to wear it)

Fly London have some lovely ones, I have the Mes 2 in brown and they are gorgeous and so comfy.

(But don’t buy directly from their website, They can be found cheaper elsewhere)

BigFatBloomers · 17/09/2019 20:28

I don't think they're quite the style you're looking for but I've now fallen for these but they only seem to be available in a 3 or an 8

Catquest1 · 17/09/2019 20:35

Ooooo i could essily buy several off the flylondon site!

I like those ones @BigFatBloomers but im not sure when I'd wear them. I tend to be quite casual so when i go out Im very much a denim skirt/dungaree dress rockchick wannabe (not entirely sure i pull it off stylistically but im happy!) which was why i was thinking calf height. Currently i live and die in either converse or Docs and not a lot else. Just be nice to have another option!

Ah yes, we probably are approaching it from different ends. I seem to wear my brown hiking style boots all the time and I've decided I'd like some black boots but probably want something just a little sleeker.

Clarks here but they look rather wide around the leg

Haffiana · 17/09/2019 21:22

Those Rocket Dogs are made of plastics, as are most of their boots these days. That is why they are cheap. They will make your feet sweat, and they will almost certainly not last the winter. If you are a vegan and willing to put up with the discomfort then they will be perfect.

It is a shame, because some of their styles are lovely.

Catquest1 · 18/09/2019 07:34

@Haffiana have to confess it was the style i noticed first but yes that that was my worry if they were maybe made of plastic. Which is a shame because it was kind of what i had in mind.

Whilst i am and "keep shoes/boots and repair until til they fall to pieces" person i would be disappointed to find they were beyond repair after 1 season.

I can't wear heels anymore, not that i ever really did and if im off out to the pub i need something that looks nice, i feel happy in and are comfortable!

I've had some Fly boots for several years - I think they're the Mes ones but if not pretty similar - and they last really well and are v comfy. I hope they'll get me through one more winter, and if they don't I'll go out and buy some more...

Catquest1 · 18/09/2019 17:28

I think these Fly ones are the ones

Catquest1 · 01/11/2019 21:43

Excellent choice!!

LisaD76 · 19/11/2019 17:59

Well can’t see the price but if they are similarly priced to the other rocket dog ones(50-60) then they are overpriced as they are fabric and synthetic and if you buy wisely you can get good leather boots for the same price. But then I waited till it was summer to replace my brown knee boots as £120 felt like a rip off and I only paid 40ish in August... I’m a bit of a cheapskate and I love a sale☺️☺️☺️

New Rock Boots. Expensive, but so comfortable and last forever!

BestestBrownies · 20/11/2019 13:52

Oh wow foxyariel those Camden boots are so stylish! I'm doing a little happy dance as can usually never find boots that don't flap around my skinny calves. May need to put them on my Christmas wish list...

And I must be getting old, because I detest the thick soles on those New Rock offerings. They remind me of that 90's grunge/goth look.

Agree with pp the Rocket Dog ones look cheap and badly made.

Not keen on the Fly London wedge heels either, but glad you found some that suit your style OP.

bpirockin · 20/11/2019 15:15

I have a pair of Georgia bike boots (officially referred to as Engineer boots) - they are from the USA but certainly used to be available here. I wore them almost every day for well over a decade, and actually still wear the first pair but have a second pair as well now, after scuffing the originals in a road accident.

I really like the look of your Rocket Dog ones, but have no experience of their footwear in terms of quality.

hoochymamgu · 20/11/2019 15:58

Oh gosh I echo the ugg waterproof biker boots, have had mine three years and still going strong. I wear them with everything too.

msmith501 · 20/11/2019 15:58

Have you looked at NewRock?
