What kind of shape wear might help?

I'm a size 16, with 'spare rolls' around my belly, not helped by being very high waisted, so when I still down, they really show. I try to suck it in, but I don't have a lot of core strength yet and I don't remember much of the time!

I usually wear tunic type tops, things gathered from the neck or under bust, loose shirts etc but sometimes I need/want to wear slightly more straight tops. What can I wear underneath to help suck in my stomach?

I have some of the right high waisted control pants, which help but aren't so suitable for every day as they aren't very comfortable or easy to get on and off for going to the loo etc. I was thinking perhaps something more like a tight firmly constructed vest top underneath? It would be hard to make sure it didn't ride up, but might be more comfortable for every day wear, if perhaps not quite as effective as the pants.

Is there anything like that? Not fancy bustiers and corsets etc but just something more everyday that might help, a very firm vest or whatever.

Have a look at vercella vita on Qvc, They are not cheap but the quality is lovely. And you can wear them for up to 30 days and still return.

Thanks, will check them out

I find Next longline vests in a size smaller smooth all sorts of nonsense out and that clothes hand away rather than cling.

Maidenform waist nipper, mine was 3.99 off Ebay. You wear your ordinary knickers with it, I love mine.

great, thanks for the additional ideas

@Spaceprincess what are the sizes like?

Spaceprincess · 18/09/2019 07:22

@Blossom28, I'm a size 12/14 with a mum tum, mines a medium and its snug but not uncomfortable, it stays put and sort of lifts and smooths everything. I wear ordinary pants with it so easy in the loo...
I'm going to get another one cos I wear it so much.

Thanks @Spaceprincess, just ordered one!

I really recommend Heist shapewear. They have a body or a high waisted pants and both are really good at smoothing and slimming and are actually comfortable to wear!

I tried Heist a while ago, and it didn't fit me at all! That was the body, though. The pants might. But I was needing a more everyday solution, so something that doesn't need changing daily, like pants do, might be more economical. I'll look into the vest tops and the waist cinchers, as those might provide a bit of extra support.

I think it's being high waisted that doesn't help either, though obviously the biggest help would be losing weight to get rid of rolls. It makes my bra band roll up at the bottom too, no matter how many different band sizes i've tried. I think I need a total body suit every day!
