Could someone help me sort out an outfit

I have a number of mildly social weekend events between now and Christmas. Nothing more than pub meals out with family/friends/colleagues but I need something versatile I can chuck on.

Am short and fatter than usual (size 14/16). I am a chubby hourglass with a fairly sizeable c section tummy (which means nothing pencil cut). I definitely look better in dresses, really struggle with jeans and trousers. I get swamped quite easily - I am not petite but I am quite little.

Like a fairly plain style, a bit preppy. Not much black but not afraid of colour. Mid 40s. Fair. Bit bland and scruffy tbh. Also v skint so limited budget.

I very rarely get replies in here so any help gratefully received.

I absolutely love the wrap dresses from Silk Fred, they really flatter a range of figures and come in beautiful prints. Watch for the return postage charge but I think these are well worth a go:

Also watching you to beware for the inevitable “have you tried Lindy Bop” posts which are no doubt incoming ;)

Ohhhhhh excellent!

I have already eyed up that very hm dress but it's quite similar to what I wear to work so am thinking of it in that context.

I do suit a wrap dress so will look through those. The Sainsbury's dress is very similar to what I had in mind actually - I have a number of things which will go with that. Will see if the colour suits.

Thank you!
