Congested chin - help!

Blankspace4 · 16/09/2019 00:47

Was unsure whether to but this in health or beauty but here I am.

I’m almost 38 and had poor skin throughout my teens and 20s, cystic and hormonal acne. Now my skin is broadly good, no large hormonal spots and my cheeks are actually quite dry. My chin, however, is really congested. It looks like most pores are blocked, whitehead type gunk in the sides of my chin (sometimes these come to a head, sometimes not) and in the middle of chin deep rooted blocked pores which sometimes form hard red painful bumps.

I use a mild cleanser (la roche posay) and a lush exfoliator twice a week. I probably don’t drink enough water but I’ve been making a concerted effort to drink less alcohol and eat a better diet for the past 2 months. I also take a good multivitamin.

Any ideas what is causing and how to fix.

Start with 10% and see how you get on.

Superdrug Naturally Radiant glycolic acid toner cleared my chin up overnight.

huffpuffstuff · 16/09/2019 06:30

Another vote for glycolic acid. Pixi glow tonic sorted my horrendous chin very quickly

Blankspace4 · 16/09/2019 19:01

Thank you. Will look for the acids!!

Ditto pixi glow or Superdrug dupe. Fairly annoyed I had to get so old to discover it. Before this I was you!

Abkbjbjb · 16/09/2019 19:21

Following if you don't mind as I have the same problem at 40!!

DontFearTheReaper · 16/09/2019 20:41

Second salicylic acid. The Paula’s choice one is good.

Blankspace4 · 16/09/2019 22:16

May start with the Superdrug one as sounds like that should be cheap-ish. Will check back in with the results - thank you for all the recs, where would I be without mumsnet??!

Actually - I also used an Origins mask last night - the one in the white tube for problem skin. It’s really taken the oil-slick-ky feeling away so may use that once or twice a week for a while and would recommend to those following this thread.

Mine is the same 😕

MrsMcnulty20 · 16/09/2019 22:28

I have exactly the same, including the painful bumps. I find the Paula’s choice has made a big difference. And if a spot is erupting i apply it directly on spot every few hours and the swelling reduces a lot.

Blankspace4 · 16/09/2019 22:32

Where do you get Paula’s choice from? It’s not a brand I know....

I bought it direct from the website. It’s not cheap but it lasts a good while. You can buy a smaller bottle to try if you’re not sure

DontFearTheReaper · 17/09/2019 00:14

I think FeelUnique stocks it. Yes you can get a small bottle to try, mine has lasted me a good while.

QueenWhatevraWanabi · 17/09/2019 14:36

Paula's choice - twice a day?

Freshstart40 · 17/09/2019 14:51

Please can someone link to the Paula's Choice one? Thank you

Freshstart40 · 17/09/2019 17:10

Thank you. Just ordered the trial size

Isleepinahedgefund · 17/09/2019 21:44

I found that the thing that sorted out these sorts of issues for me was the lumea vibrating face cleaner thingy. Much better than any product I've tried.
