So I've decided to stop buying fast fashion and invest my clothing budget into quality pieces that I will need way less off.

I want to build a classic quality wardrobe of pieces I will wear for years and then buy the odd 'trend' piece to lift it in season.

Now my question is what pieces should I buy to create my core wardrobe. Budget per season is £1.5k-£2k

I'm 37, mum of two, and my style icon is Emmanuelle Alt and have always dreamed of looking like an expensive french woman but currently look like I've been dragged through H&M sale rail.

Can you help? Thank you

Leather leggings I still can’t get my fat arse into. They are beautiful though

I'd say a good handbag or two would be the best investment. I've always thought quality accessories can elevate even the most basic of outfits. Smart leather gloves I feel always add a touch of class too.

But yeah, avoid hnm as its very studenty tbh. I'll admit MNS has drawn me in a lit lately. Can't go wrong with a nice cashmere jumper :)

Two dresses Whistles, Other Stories, BA&SH, Sandro
Zara have some nice blouses
Black suede pumps
Golden goose trainers or similar

Leather trousers
Well cut trousers. I prefer a cigarette style or very slim leg
Tailored blazers - I have a mans blazer that I wear oversized with leather trousers but I also have a fair few on trend ones such as a puff sleeve one at the moment.
Good quality white blouses/shirt
Black suede pumps - currently wearing louboutin so kate or aquazurra
Burberry trench - a bit spendy initially but they’re timeless
Smart trainers - I wear Gucci but superga, ash etc have nice ones.
Pencil skirts
Well cut dresses that enhance your figure - I’m a true hourglass so buy to suit me.

However if your style inspo is Emmanuelle Alt then you definitely need the following :

*well cut good quality leather trousers (not leggings)
*tailored trousers
*blazer
*oversized but good quality leather jacket

  • cotton T-shirt’s *white shirt *belts for the trousers *black classic suede pumps ie gianvito rossi
