I think I would like thick, navy probably, knee length, hood, not a massive fan of fur trim, waterproof ish but warmth more important. Needs to be able to do 2 hours in freezing cold weather. Have budget of £150

Seasalt Janelle

olderthanilookapparently · 15/09/2019 07:25

Both look nice, the sleeves on the Joules one are too short for the model. It's a problem I have as I an 5ft8.

The Seasalt one looks promising

I bought this one recently:

https://www.mountainwarehouse.com/polar-hybrid-womens-long-down-jacket-p25496.aspx/green/

Over budget but they had 50% off everything when I got it so if it's the right sort of thing it might be worth keeping an eye out. It's also not available in navy so probably way off the mark!

However... similar to you I need a coat which will keep me warm and dry for a couple of hours in a muddy field watching sport. After buying a joules coat a couple of years ago which looked lovely and cosy but turned out not to be, my criteria were properly waterproof (not water resistant) and properly warm (down). That combination was surprisingly hard to find! (I spent way too much time researching this 😂 )

I haven't tested it out yet as it hasn't been cold enough but it was very snuggly when I tried it on Smile

I have one very similar to the Joules one - it's the same but with a hood and fur trim and it really sheds feathers. Not sure if all Joules coats are the same.

I hear good things about Uniqlo down coats

I've have a Didrikson nadine parka. After many years outdoors, watching children's sports, waterproof is essential!

I would try and find a cheap Didrikson. Weather bomb proof but not too heavy

Yiddytod · 15/09/2019 11:14

Im dusting down mine for todays match, temperature has dropped massively here today.

EspressoX10 · 15/09/2019 11:16

I agree with Didrikson recommendations. It's seriously toasty and definitely waterproof.

blodynmawr · 15/09/2019 11:19

Lands End Stadium Squall.

Lands End maxi down
I have both and the stadium squall is the best for downpours but the down maxi is the best for really cold, but dry, days.
Lands End has 30% off this weekend.

Just seen this post on the Christmas bargains thread -

WC20 gets 20% warehouse clearance items at Cotsworld Outdoor. I got a Didriksons coat for £88 down from £220."

I have a Didrikson parka (Thelma?) and I'm 5ft 9 - good arm length and hood

TheStuffedPenguin · 15/09/2019 13:35

Jack Wolfskin or Didrikson .

ChinookPilotsGoVertical · 15/09/2019 14:19

Try Snugpak, not sure if they do navy though, usually black, green or tan /sand.

rockingthelook · 15/09/2019 16:29

I cannot recommend a Rohan Cocoon coat enough, a bit over budget but keep an eye out for online sales?, light weight, snuggly, dried really quickly after rain, warm and long on arms and body (Im 5ft 9) the best winter coat I've ever bought

I bought this one last year and it's fully waterproof and very warm. The fur trim can be detached. I love it (live in Scotland so it's often cold and wet). Not navy though..
