Are ankle length trousers a thing?

I tried on some trousers today that fitted me really nicely around the waist. They were wide leg and sat just above my ankle. I liked them but wasn't sure if that was a thing or I'd just picked up a pair of petite ones and I'd look like a tool(there was no label). Can anyone enlighten me please?

They are indeed a thing.

nancy75 · 13/09/2019 22:37

They have been a thing for quite a few years

AtSea1979 · 13/09/2019 22:38

Have you been living in a convent?

Hoolajerry · 13/09/2019 22:39

Yay. This makes me happy! Thanks

I live in a small village but it seems EVERY woman is wearing these...except me...i’m still in my bootcut jeans Grin

TokyoSushi · 13/09/2019 22:43

Very much so!

AtSea1979 · 13/09/2019 22:44

Also not to be discriminatory, a lot of men in my area are wearing them also

procrastinatingtoday · 13/09/2019 22:54

It's a curse. Especially during winter - what shoes and socks you can wear? To keep warm and stylis(ish) 😫

FaithInfinity · 13/09/2019 23:24

Definitely a thing. When I got my style analysis done she said 7/8 was a good length for me but I am bemused by the winter sock conundrum. I get cold feet.

AHintOfStyle · 13/09/2019 23:25

What kind of footwear can you wear with them? Like winter footwear

Ninkaninus · 14/09/2019 00:41

I’ll be wearing mine with argyle socks and brogues or loafers.

managedmis · 14/09/2019 01:30

Yeah, there's a gap. Socks look daft, boots look like Peter Pan 🤷‍♂️

Kiwiinkits · 14/09/2019 01:34

You wear AllBirds sneakers with them or Ecco leather sneakers or brogues (no socks needed)

Kiwiinkits · 14/09/2019 01:35

They need to be high waisted to be on trend

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 14/09/2019 02:02

It's a thing, yes. A truly awful thing, but a thing nonetheless. All the students round here wear them, teamed with big clunky trainers.

FatherFintanFay · 14/09/2019 08:51

Sadly, yes. For the short-legged amongst us, it makes us look like our ordinary trousers have shrunk in the wash or we've had a sudden growth spurt, like Ron Weasley in last year's dress robes.

I like my trousers to cover the tops of my shoes, which I am sure makes me look old fashioned, but I don't care - it suits me. I usually find that going for the long length, if there is one, or trying the Tall range, solves the problem.

ChickenyChick · 14/09/2019 08:55

I am so happy about this trend

At 6ft1 all trousers look short on me, now it's fashion. Hurrah

ShirleyPhallus · 14/09/2019 08:58

I think the slim fit ones look great but those baggy, cropped trousers look awful. Always accompanied by those felt looking clogs. Hideous.

SteelRiver · 14/09/2019 09:07

They're not only a thing, they're my favourite thing! They say to show off the slenderest part of your leg and mine is my shapely ankles lol!

CanISpeakToYourManager · 14/09/2019 09:11

Actually finding it quite hard to find full length trousers at the moment.

Lyingonthesofainthedark · 14/09/2019 09:34

I don't like them with a straight wide leg and shorter. They look great when they are narrower towards the ankle.i wear mine with boots.

thedevilinablackdress · 14/09/2019 09:52

I like it. Socks have to contrast.
