Ski wear

We go skiing maybe every few years. I have trousers which seem fine but on previous trips I have borrowed jackets. I think I may need to buy something this time round as for various reasons the borrowed options are in use the week we go. I do however have lots of jackets already just nothing that is specifically ski wear.

Those of you who go regularly will I regret not having air vents and lift pass pockets etc if I just wear a walking waterproof over a warm jacket - and if I do choose a new one, any mid range brands to recommend?

A walking jacket will be absolutely fine. My DH just wears one and we ski all the time. It's a bit more of a pain when you don't have a lift pass pocket, but not a huge deal. DH sometimes uses his phone arm strap for running under his jacket but mostly just has his pass in one of the other pockets.

I tend to get all my skiing stuff at tkmaxx which can have amazing bargains.

If you want a specific ski jacket, I recommend having a look on Amazon. Lots of sellers with last year’s styles or ends of lines. Good bargains. Managed to get ds an o’neill jacket and ski trousers for less than 60 quid. I got my jacket for 100 against an RRP of 250 just because it was a previous season style.

If you are a 12, check out Ellis Brigham. In the glasgow store they had north face sample ski jackets really cheap. I got a 300 ski jacket for 90 and my partner got a 200 jacket for 40! I'm sure the other stores are the same.
Otherwise I'm waiting till the ski stuff comes into tk maxx.
