My DD has to attend a wedding as a normal guest (not part of bridal party or anything). She does not wear dresses or anything remotely girly. What can she wear to the this party? Any ideas please ... it is the first time she is attending a wedding.

How about a jumpsuit or playsuit? What time of year is the wedding? If winter, I have seen some lovely velvet long shorts/culottes in black, navy or red that she could wear with a top. There was some in Boden last year.

My DD wore a smart pair of trousers, a shirt and a waistcoat for an evening wedding reception, she was 8 at the time and she had worn a bridesmaids dress reluctantly for the day but begged to be allowed to change for the evening as she does not do dresses or skirts at all.

Jumpsuits are her favourite so great suggestions (like the one in the pic) ! She would also love trousers and waistcoat. Wedding is in two weeks.
Can I ask - black jumpsuit or black trousers + waistcoat acceptable at wedding? Asking because of the colour. Haven't been to a wedding in UK before so no idea. Thanks!

Wow OP I just posted almost exact same question yesterday! And I got the suggestion of a jumpsuit which DD was happy with. here's the link to my thread!

We've gone for this jumpsuit from H&M - I'm so glad to not have spent a fortune, as I doubt she'll wear it again after the wedding!

Many people say no black to a wedding, but men wear black suits with a different coloured shirts so why not?

I'd put black trousers/jumpsuit with a bright or patterned top like these in the pictures.

@LifeInAHamsterWheel wow they seem so similar. I really like the jumpsuit but the trouble is my daughter won't wear pink or sequins! Or frills! Or without sleeves.
So I think I will go with trousers and waistcoat option for her.

Black is a no no for a wedding normally. I would go with a colour. Would she wear a shortie jumpsuit with tights ?

She could also wear trousers in a more dressy fabric, with a boxy sleeveless top. No frills, but dressed up looking ?
