Has anyone seen Toast style clothes but more reasonably priced?

I am looking for the older style TOAST vibe re my clothing- I don't know how else to describe it sartorially.

I like tunics in earthy tones and longline jumpers. Also jewellery like they used to do over 5 years ago.

Why are the shoes they do so clunky nowadays? I liked the pull on good quality leather ones of old.

Inspiration needed- TIA

Toast is pretty unique!
I think sea salt comes close at times.
I tend to wait for sales at Toast!

Cos - practically every trouser shape Toast offer at the mo, Cos do a cheaper version, and they also use natural fibres. Can't link at mo, but Toast have some wide legs for £150 which you can get for around £60 in Cos. I have cotton trousers from both, both creases equally (I iron both after each wear) and wash identically.

Cos also have some earthy colours at the moment, lots of amber oranges and muted greens. They usually only have limited colour palette outside of the neutrals so it can be hit and miss as to whether they suit, but this season is particularly Toast-like

Extremely left field and you have to see to believe, but M&S' newly revamped PerUna has gone very Cos -like recently, so you may also find a Toast crossover there too. I know!

Thanks chasing - just off to browse Grin

It's can be a bit marmite, but John Lewis's Kin range is very Toast (and Cos)-esque. I bought this beige midi skirt from Toast a couple of weeks ago but was dithering as it was a bit too pale and a bit too summer-weight, then lo! saw this much cheaper) beige midi skirt in JL and the Toast one was returned. I love Toast but it's really only do-able in the sales.

Zinnia · 12/09/2019 17:34

(The Kin skirt is fantastic by the way, I'm wearing it now and have been swishing about all day)

Thanks again chasing- COS stuff looks just the thing I wanted.

So far I like....

Really like the idea of this dress with a warm base layer underneath worn with this necklace...

Oh my god, you really have found lots to love in Cos! Glad to help, that burnt amber
colour is really lovely and very Toast. If ordering online, don’t forget to sign up to the newsletter for 10% off

MaudesMum · 13/09/2019 07:27

Its also worth remembering with Cos that a lot of their clothing is much better in real life (and the models on their website always look so gloomy), so a rummage around their shop and some trying on is very helpful.

Herocomplex · 13/09/2019 07:31

I’m still a bit shocked at the Toast emailer I got yesterday with the €455 skirt. I’d go to Margaret Howell instead!

mizu · 13/09/2019 07:42

I usually eBay for TOAST items. Or sale, even the sale can be expensive. There is an outlet in Shepton Mallet which is a while from me but I go a couple of times a year.

Agree with M&S, never buy anything from there bar underwear but some of the clothes in there this season is right up my street.

There is a shop called 'Olive' that has some lovely jumpers at the moment. Might be worth a look on line.

And COS is lovely but some of its too out there for me, you've got to look carefully.

Almahart · 13/09/2019 08:29

Ooh @Mizu what’s the Toast outlet shop like? I dream of prices like the amazing archive sales they used to do online!

Is it sort of regular sale prices or more reduced than that? And how much stock do they have?

Forgive me pouncing on you but I’ve wanted to find someone to ask about it for a while!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 13/09/2019 09:32

I’d be interested in your answer too mizu.

Those archive sales were truly amazing!

mizu · 13/09/2019 12:32

Re TOAST outlet. It can be a bit hit and miss but I got a lovely jumper from there last October half term which was current stock but it had a little hole in it. Original price £175 Shock down to £125 and I somehow got it down to £95 no returns. So still quite expensive. I also got a Dora denim dress there for £45 a couple of years ago. There are things in there that are cheaper than sale but I say it's hit and miss as you never know what sizes will be available.
The actual outlet place is super cute and the TOAST bit is lovely.

Herocomplex · 13/09/2019 12:49

I desperately wanted some Toast bedlinen several years ago, I’m still not sure why I didn’t buy it, I loved it so. I still yearn for it.

mizu · 13/09/2019 14:56

herocomplex me too. The bed linen always looks beautiful. I only have a couple of pillow cases at the moment which are a beautiful blue.
The pyjamas are good too - I remember quite a few pyjamas and nightdresses at the outlet each time I went.

BogglesGoggles · 13/09/2019 15:01

Sea salt have quite a bit in that direction this year. Also try uniqlo.

grownup2 · 13/09/2019 15:05

I believe some of Toast's jewellery used to be from Janie Bates. She makes wonderful one-off pieces from vintage beads at very reasonable prices.

Oh yes, the pj’s are very soft and lovely. I think I might put some on the Christmas list...

Almahart · 13/09/2019 16:01

Ah thanks @mizu! Very helpful

Whitney168 · 13/09/2019 16:04

Poetry might tick your boxes too, OP?

Whatthefoxgoingon · 13/09/2019 16:36

Thanks mizu! Probably not worth a trip up from London sadly.
