If yes: has it made a good difference to your skin, which one do you use?

If not: why not?

Yes, factor 50 always. Not that it matters, I look well old at 32.

Propertyofhood · 13/09/2019 18:52

Many people think they have great skin~ but don’t really get what that is.

Surely if the person themselves is happy with the way their skin looks then that is all that matters? Their skin is great.

Goatrider · 13/09/2019 19:00

No never.

I don't care about wrinkles.

withlotsoflove · 13/09/2019 19:07

I’m talking from a scientific: anti ageing point of view!
No problem in thinking you think your skin is great!
🙂

Something to bear in mind for those saying you have to apply it multiple times a day...the 2 hours or whatever your sunscreen gives you is for 2 hours outside. If your commute is an hour each way and you don’t see much daylight at work, then one application in the morning should be adequate.

Sorry if that’s obvious, I read that in a Paula’s choice email :)

I wear a 30 spf moisturiser year round. Have done since the early 90s.

user1471465525 · 13/09/2019 21:49

Yes my skincare routine is basically spf 50 in the morning and retinol at night.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2019 21:56

Yes, everyday since I was 22.

I still get asked for id to buy alcohol and people think dh is my dad so something’s working.

Onwardsagain · 14/09/2019 18:43

Yes, I always wear a factor 50spf unless I know for sure I won't be out in any sunlight.

I've been trialling them for the last year or so to find the one that compliments my makeup the best. So far I love the Roche Posay Anthelios fluid but am currently working my way through Boots No7 BB spf50 which is a little greasy but allows me to get away with the smallest amount of foundation.

Cakemonger · 14/09/2019 19:35

On all but the darkest January days, yes

megletthesecond · 14/09/2019 19:39

No.

Sagradafamiliar · 14/09/2019 19:42

Yes, particularly because I use retinol but I would anyway. I'll find out in a few years if it was worth it when the wrinkle would start to appear.

ViserionTheDragon · 14/09/2019 21:13

Somone mentioned upthread that they hated the greasy feeling of sunscreen. Not all sunscreens are greasy. Fact.

EdWinchester · 14/09/2019 21:16

My moisturiser has it built-in, so yes.

Abibranning · 14/09/2019 21:20

Spf every day and this year I've started using spf 100 and it's the first year I haven't ended up with sun freckles on my nose.

Nc1737383 · 14/09/2019 21:22

PP asked if everyone is reapplying but I’ve not seen any answers and am curious if you do?

Is wearing sunscreen purely an anti wrinkle thing or is it for health reasons too?

I’m very pale but I barely ever wear sunscreen, I just tend to avoid the sun as much as I can (staying inside, covering up etc.)

mathanxiety · 14/09/2019 21:44

I use it because I live in a place with hot, sunny summer weather and clear, dry, freezing weather in winter and there is a history of skin cancer in my family. I am not so worried about wrinkles.

The one I used to use is Eucerin spf 30 moisturiser but I have also used Olay spf 30.

I only apply it once a day.

Onwardsagain · 14/09/2019 22:22

@ViserionTheDragon which sunscreens have you found not to be greasy. When working I don't mind it so much as the environment I'm working in has over 300 hundred air changes an hour so it can be quite drying but it'd be good to know what else would be worth a try,

woodhill · 14/09/2019 22:30

I do find they tend to pill on my skin after moisturiser though

supadupapupascupa · 14/09/2019 23:02

My moisturiser has spf 15 I think but if I'm home all day I might use an spf free one instead. My foundation has spf in also but I don't wear it every day. To be honest I never rely on them. I avoid the sun instead! Always cover up, I'm the wally with the parasol sitting in the shade. But my skin is lovely

ViserionTheDragon · 14/09/2019 23:32

@Onwardsagain try La Roche Posay Anthelios Shaka Ultra Light sunscreen. It leaves the skin almost matte and doesn't leave an obvious white cast which is nice! You can get it from Boots.

ViserionTheDragon · 14/09/2019 23:36

Answering the re-application question, I do top up mine but then I don't wear makeup that much anymore so it's not a faff. I rember Lisa Eldridge did a good video about reapplying it over makeup though.

DramaAlpaca · 14/09/2019 23:38

I also recommend La Roche Posay Anthelios etc etc as not being greasy, and it's great on sun sensitive skin.

I didnt wear sunscreen or any kind of moisturizer in my twenties in winter (despite being careful in summer) and now I’m in my early thirties have quite obvious frown lines so it’s probably a good idea to wear winter sunscreen...
