My son (16) has acne. He is taking anti-biotics and using a cream prescribed by the GP. These arnt helping. We have a referral to dermatology (appointment in 6 weeks). His face is very sensitive and seems permanently red - I am looking for suggestions as to what we can use to reduce the redness/sooth his skin. He also had an outside summer job and although he used sun screen I don't think this has helped his skin.

Could be the SPF has irritated his inflamed skin. My daughter is allergic to 90% of SPFs but can tolerate Ultrasun Sensitive

Good luck at the derm. FWIW Retin A 0.05 cream has been a godsend for my acne.

Human - thankyou for replying. I did wonder about the sunscreen. Let's hope we have some luck with the dermatologist.

Rosacea? I think the deem is your best bet and should be able to take a proper look and advise. Good luck.
