Party dress (adult!)

I’m going to a birthday do next weekend (think hotel/live band/drinks and dancing) and have nothing to wear

Size 16/18, big tummy and big upper arms so ideally looking for 3/4 or long sleeve. Knee length or midi could work but want to look suitably dressed up rather than casual/day dress. Budget up to £150 for something amazing. Any ideas of styles or where to look? I guess i’m after the sort of dress you’d wear to a work Xmas party but don’t think they are out just yet!

Help please!!

I’m 40 by the way if that makes a difference to styles that could work!

I'm the same age and I also struggle with my stomach.

I go for peplum dresses or skirts.

Asos have some nice ones in at the min all in your price range.

beatriceprior · 10/09/2019 17:55

So do simply be.

Caramelblonde70 · 10/09/2019 17:59

Definitely look on Asos. They do lots of lovely kimono type dresses in either short or midi lengths - good luck!

What about the Boohoo dress. It looks amazing on every plus size woman I’ve seen it on. This is one of them, if you look at the bottom of the page there are identical dresses in lots of different colours.

Oops I misread your budget a bit there! Oh well, maybe it will inspire you anyway 🤣.

Have a look at Studio 8 (Part of Phase 8) www.phase-eight.com/plus-size/dresses/

Gingersausage - I have that dress. It does indeed look good!

Not had anywhere to wear it to yet though!

I bought this in a lovely dark purple a couple of months ago. It's very flattering and they have it in a few colours

sleepismysuperpower1 · 10/09/2019 18:28

would something like this work?

ProseccoSupernova · 10/09/2019 18:49

Ooh wow thanks everyone, will have a proper look when home but that boohoo dress looks great... what is quality like though for that price?!

It's ok actually. It doesn't feel "expensive" when you feel it or put it on but it does look good.

I always order up a size for boohoo.

For that price you should get it and try. And get another one from ASOS because your budget permits!
