Looking to replace my Stan Smiths and looking for recommendations for white trainers of a similar style but a bit less clunky. No idea what's in now because I'm living very rurally the last 18 months! 38 years old if that helps

Place marking as I need the soft comfort of Stan Smiths though I've not tried Veja yet.

amiapropermum · 09/09/2019 10:56

I've only seen the Vejas online - not in real life - but they look great

I tried on Vejas in a shop and didn't find them comfortable.

Rayna37 · 09/09/2019 11:47

I'm not one for internet shopping (for clothes) but couldn't find what I wanted in shops so ordered the Velcro rip strap Stan Smiths and the same from Veja and to my wallet's dismay the Veja were much nicer and fit better. Really liking them.

youngestisapsycho · 09/09/2019 11:49

I bought some plain white Lacoste ones. There are so comfy and not clunky at all.

youngestisapsycho · 09/09/2019 11:50

These, but i bought mine from Next online

I still love my Stan Smiths, but over the last year have got Adidas Continental 80s, which are super comfy and look great, and also Veja Esplar which are really, really uncomfortable (but do look good).

Mixingitall · 09/09/2019 12:26

I love my Stan Smiths. For autumn winter i’ve Gone darker with burgundy coloured Nike Internationalist, they’re comfy and look fab.

Apolloanddaphne · 09/09/2019 12:28

My DD has always worn Stan Smiths but this summer bought some Nike Airforce trainers. They are maybe slightly more chunky but she says that are super comfortable.

amiapropermum · 09/09/2019 12:33

Mixed reviews on the vejas it seems. Some people say they are very comfy and others find them the total opposite. I like the Lacoste ones - thank you!

Another here for Lacoste which have already been linked

Greenvalleymama · 09/09/2019 14:34

I really prefer leather so personally wouldnt go for Veja. Have you tried Adidas Superstars? Nice and chunky, very comfortable too.

leapyearlover · 09/09/2019 14:36

I found Stan Smiths sooo uncomfy so following this post for some tips.

amiapropermum · 09/09/2019 14:45

I've been looking at Superstars, Sleeks and Continental 80s since starting the thread. They're all sort of blurring into one in my head now! I'd like them to last a few years so ideally something that's not on the brink of going out of style, but I have no clue!

Vejas have weirdly long tongues which are very stiff leather and skewered the front of my ankles. Had to send back. Very odd

AnnaNimmity · 09/09/2019 14:58

I have vejas and stan smiths. There's a thinner form of vejas (I have those too!) which are very comfortable. I find the vejas more comfortable than the stan smiths.

I'm thinking of Nike Airforce trainers too now.

this blog had a post on trainers this weekend - it might be useful although she's older than you I think.

Ladybird37 · 09/09/2019 15:00

I’m finding my vejas really comfortable. I think they may be a bit narrower than Stan smiths

AnnaNimmity · 09/09/2019 15:00

leapyearlover me too! I think I must have weird soles because they just dig in the bottom of my feet.

I can't get Nike Airforce (previous post wrong) as dds wear them. But am considering Nike Air Max.

Sorry they're not a terribly similar style but super comfy and eco friendly

elizzza · 09/09/2019 15:07

Puma Classics in white have a similar look to Stan Smiths and aren’t chunky

stealthbanana · 09/09/2019 15:11

They’re not cheap but I love the common projects trainers - no branding, not chunky, v comfortable.

AlbertWinestein · 09/09/2019 15:11

Vejas are only uncomfortable at first and then they suddenly become super comfy! I have the V10s and am buying another color combo this week as I love them.

AlbertWinestein · 09/09/2019 15:13

@AnnaNimmity The Nine Airforce sneakers are also really comfortable but I do seem to trip over the soles a lot.

Drogosnextwife · 09/09/2019 15:14

These. I love them, nice and lightweight and not clumpy at all. They make my feet look nice and small too.
