What do we think if joules? Who buys it?

I'm in an up market Hertfordshire town and people are like Joules clones. In my attempt to fit in I bought a Joules coat but I think it's a bit frumpy or mumsy. The sizes are really generous as well so it just doesn't suit me at all.

Namaste6 · 12/09/2019 06:45

Definitely a preppy, countryside feel to it as a PP mentioned. I wouldn't go the whole hog on it and don't like their flowery pieces. I own one of their short raincoats and a pair of plain wellies. That's fine for me!

WhoEatsPopTarts · 12/09/2019 06:50

Frumpy try hard.

Sorry! Posted by accident.

Stripes & flowers together is a no no for me, I live in a town full of Joules wearers and their mini mes though so it has a lot of appeal.

MissMatchedClaws · 12/09/2019 09:29

I’ve been buying their plain fine knit jumpers for years and the quality has plummeted. They used to be my everyday work tops, but the latest ones just bobble and leave fluff everywhere. The ones before that went thin and cardboard like after a few washes. So you’re going back at least three years to get decent quality.

Djangor3725 · 12/09/2019 11:06

Has anyone tried Joules trousers & can advise if they cater for curves. Measurements look as though they should but that doesn't mean much nowadays.

PancakeAndKeith · 12/09/2019 12:42

Yes. Their henesford chinos fit on my fat arse and huge thighs.

Djangor3725 · 12/09/2019 13:31

Thanks, Pancake. Useful to have a high street shop to try instead of taking pot luck with a size from Gap.

FaerieKiss · 12/09/2019 14:40

I don't do pattern and rarely do colours, do it's a no from me.

MrsMozartMkII · 12/09/2019 14:43

I have their flowery waterproof coat, which I got to wear to a wedding as the weather was looking iffy.

I like the odd things but some of it is just the wrong side of twee or the quality isn't quite what one would expect. So saying, other pieces are very nice indeed. My DD loves their wellies Grin

FLOrenze · 12/09/2019 14:43

I love it, but then I am 70, so that says everything.

m0therofdragons · 12/09/2019 14:53

I like it, washes well and doesn't cost as much as boden. I don't understand how a dress can be too try-hard for a school run though. Sometimes I do the school run in a joules dress and other times Hobbs or LK Bennett. I dress for work after rather than the school run. Mn is so weird about mums wearing clothes.

user1497787065 · 12/09/2019 15:01

Awful and so obviously Joules

FatherFintanFay · 12/09/2019 15:06

I never seem to learn with Joules. There's an outlet shop near me and every time I pass it, I go in, look around a bit, and then leave empty-handed. I think it's because I once bought a plain navy jumper from there ages ago which I really liked and got a lot of wear from, and I am ever hopeful that one day, they'll have something else that I want.

onanothertrain · 12/09/2019 15:18

Don't get it. Anytime I've been its the same style, same patterns, same stuff. I feel its for old, posher ladies.

dudsville · 12/09/2019 15:24

They have had some nice things, blazers, wool skirts, in the past at least. Haven't shopped there in years as the rest feels juvenile/cutesy to me.

SteelRiver · 12/09/2019 18:39

I love their Rosamund blouse. It's a pop overstyle, so easy to get on. they bring out a couple of different prints each season. It washes and irons really well, too.
