Trainers that are leather and not mesh? Waterproof?

Want some winter trainers but they all seem to have the mesh that gets your toes soaked in the rain.

Anyonw know of any proper waterproofs that are still nice trainers?

hiking shoes?

HattieMcNastie · 06/09/2019 15:32

Nooo. I mean proper, nice trainers for everyday wear but that aren't mesh fabric.

Anyone know if airmax are solid?

You can get leather converse if that's what you mean?
Or do you mean proper sport trainers but made of leather?

HattieMcNastie · 06/09/2019 15:36

Proper sports Trainers.

I remember they used to be enclosed completly but now all seem to be fabric. It's annoying in the rain.

What are you going to use them for?

I always buy my walking trainers from Merrell, you can select by 'waterproof' and 'trail running' on their web page (or hiking in my case). If not for running the Merrell Siren Sport is fab, I am on my second pair. I wear them daily and get about four years out of them.

I know what you mean, but I can't help. DS2 asked for these for school. Couldn't find any apart from the cheap nasty puma ones from sportsdirect. We ended up getting mesh...

Depends on whether you are going to do sporty things in them or just wear them though doesn't it?? Tennis shoes can be easily found in all leather, lots of different types, some which might be more trainer like.

I wear these on my rowing machine.

Geox make leather trainers for kids, 'Vega' is an all leather women's trainer.

I suppose because the majority of sports trainers would be too heavy if they were leather

There's a shop by me called 'king of trainers' (not sure if that's an independent or a chain?) and they had a whole display of black leather trainers that could be worn as school shoes so they must exist

reebok classic

SleepyKat · 06/09/2019 16:30

I have some nice Black Nikes, think they're called Tekniks or something like that.

Leather doesn't always = waterproof and waterproof doesn't always = leather, although you can of course get leather waterproof shoes. Waterproof is an actual technical property which is why you're getting recommendations for walking type brands. No leather fashion trainers of the airmax ilk will be properly waterproof, although they withstand a fair amount of wet weather, perhaps best to say shower resistant at best.

Hence it would really help to know how you intend to wear them. Everyday walking around town, airmax type trainers will be fine. Dog walking across grassy fields, not so much!

these

They do them in all white as well. I cycle commute in them and they keep my feet dry and warm, think I wore them all through last winter.

SleepyKat · 06/09/2019 16:33

They're not proper leather but not mesh.

Mrsjayy · 06/09/2019 16:33

I have rebocks that are not meshy I got them at an outlet shop

Mrsjayy · 06/09/2019 16:35

Dh has Nikes that are a full non meshy trainer

Mrsjayy · 06/09/2019 16:36

I love my leather converse they never let in water I know you wanted proper trainers but it might be another option

HeronLanyon · 06/09/2019 16:37

I’ve found similar problem. Thanks for suggestions above and any others. Mesh may be lovely and comfy but can’t even wear them to the gym if it’s raining let alone anywhere else! Ore mesh trainers used to be at least rain repellant if not actually waterproof.

bokkleorandoove · 06/09/2019 16:39

I wear asics gore tex trainers - they are mesh looking but completely waterproof. I get mine from sweaty betty

Bluntness100 · 06/09/2019 16:44

I got some nice leather ones from lk Bennett, so much depends on budget.

thedevilinablackdress · 06/09/2019 17:55

slipperyeel · 06/09/2019 18:02
