Gaps kids sizes - what age does XXL fit?

I’m looking at Gap coats for ds. He’s 12 and average/slightly tall for his age and pretty slim. Will double XXL fit him? How does their sizing relate to children’s ages?

My skinny 10 yr old has a hoodie marked L(10) from gap.

I'm a ladies size 8, and just under 5ft and gap kids size xxl fits me!
