Very pale fake tan?

I’m very pale skinned - my legs in particular are bright white - and going on a beach holiday in a couple of weeks.

I’m feeling self-conscious and wondering if a pale natural looking tan would help. I’ve never used it before so hoping for advice on what to buy and how to put it on! Or would I be better going to a spray tan place?

I really like a body lotion with a bit of pigment in it. You just put it on every day to build up the tan gradually. If you feel that you’ve got enough tan, you just don’t reapply for a day or two. It comes in lighter and darker shades for different skin tones. I can’t remember the brand name of mine but there are different ones in Boots.

Thank you -never even heard of that, so will have a look!

Dove do a moisturiser with a little fake tan in. I think it's called Gradual Tan. You can get one for fairer skin. It's very subtle and not streaky and you can build it up over the course of a few days. Highly recommend!

Lovely thanks!

Bondi Sands light/medium tanning foam just takes the edge off my fair skin. I will leave it either an hour on for a nice glow or overnight for more of a tanned look. Love the stuff!

I've always looked awful with fake tan - I too am very pale, with pink undertones to my skin, so everything always looks too orange I think.

But I REALLY recommend Tan Luxe's The Gradual buildable tanning body moisturiser. Even on my glowing white legs, it looked natural and sunkissed. A MIRACLE.

You can get it online or from Space NK. It's not the cheapest, but it's GOOD. x

Garnier summer body in the light option is good

I find the no7 gradual tan is good for me

taybert · 04/09/2019 19:32

The St Tropez in shower one is perfect for this. Really subtle, it’s not even a “tan” really, it just takes the edge off for me and means I can wear pale colours without looking dead.

ImpossibleNovelty · 04/09/2019 19:37

As per the PP St tropez in shower - the only fake tan that hasn’t looked awful and orange on me. Genius stuff!

I don't love gradual tanning body lotions as I somehow always manage to streak it or miss a bit Hmm. Being very pale and pink toned I find a lot of fake tans are a bit too yellow for me and don't look natural at all but having tried lots I now stick with the Cocoa Brown mousse one which I think definitely suits pale skin and gives a subtle tan. Added bonus - it's pretty cheap!

Thanks all, lots of options!

I'm very pale too. I have never found a fake tan that works for me, even the gradual ones streak however carefully I apply them. I've had a couple done professionally too, and they still streak! I now use the wash off makeup type one which works well, you just have to out it on every day.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 05/09/2019 07:11

I've used the skinny tan gradual tanner recently, and was really pleased with it. Good natural colour even with first application.

I've struggled with St Tropez in the past, it barely takes the bright white edge off for me.

Jesse70 · 05/09/2019 07:30

I use asdas own tan system it is very moisturising and isn't too dark as it's more of a gradual type tan
I am naturally redheaded so I am very pale but this works for me
The best way to get it not to streak is to put it on with your hands if u use gloves or mits it will probably streak if u use your hands u will know that it's is totally absorbed properly
Wash your hands extremely well afterwards and put some hand cream on
Perfect tan everytime

Vita liberate comes in the three shades. The lightest is such a gorgeous colour. Natural and easy to apply, fades nicely, no patches.

ImperfectTents · 05/09/2019 07:37

I second isle of Eden you put drops in your normal body lotion. I am v pale and I find it makes me look normal

TitchyP · 05/09/2019 09:03

I've tried Skinny tan 7 day tanner for the first time this year and also loved it. I'm also very, very pale ordinarily!
I used the mitten thing and got very even coverage, so much better than just applying by hand.
