Shampoo for coloured hair and itchy scalp

Is there such a thing? I'm finding I get an itchy scalp when I wash my hair. It's a mix of tint, highlights and lowlights and I'm trying to use shampoo and conditioner to prevent it fading. I don't have dandruff and my scalp isn't red or sore, just itchy.

If anyone could recommend something (preferably not expensive!) I'd be really grateful!

Head and Shoulders with Argan Oil,I think it's called Smooth and Silky. The argan oil is what makes the difference as I can't use any other Head and Shoulders shampoos. I have been using L'Oréal dream lengths conditioner too which doesn't make my scalp flare up. This combination doesn't seem to affect my colour at all.

Thank you, I'll have a look at that. I hadn't considered Head and Shoulders as I remember the old version stripping colour!

There is one for coloured hair too with argan oil,but I find that a bit too moisturising and it weighs my hair down . They're always on officer for 3 for £10 and have matching conditioners.

Do you have kids? (From experience Blush) it might be worth ruling out head lice first.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/09/2019 10:40

No kids! It doesn't feel as though anything is crawling or moving either, it's always in the same place.

I'm scratching more now!

Nizoral shampoo from Amazon. It's for itchy scalps. You use it every two days for a week then once a week. It also does dandruff. It's a game changer. I think the colour / toner irritates my scalp.

Body shop ginger shampoo, soothing

fiorentina · 03/09/2019 19:21

I’ve had the same and used the Body shop ginger shampoo for a few weeks to calm it down.

I use Tgel but don't wash my hair with it. I rub it into my scalp in the shower, leave for 5 mins, then rinse and use normal colour protect shampoo to wash my hair. It works for me when my scalp eczema flares up.

Is the Body Shop shampoo ok for coloured hair? I asked about one of their shampoos on Twitter once and they couldn't tell me!

Look for sulfate free - sulfates often make you itchy and they aren't good for coloured hair. There's a Charles Worthington micellar one, most of the OGX ones, L'Oréal Everpure and Tresemme do one too now. And lots more!

Deathraystare · 04/09/2019 15:42

I have an itchy scalp and colour my hair. I do not have dandruff. I have a sensitive scalp so mostly use no nasties shampoos and conditioners. The OGX ones, the Garnier oatmilk is very gentle too.

Agree Head and Shoulders for coloured hair. I tried to do the whole sulphate free thing for a while - liked the L’Oréal Pure range, and OGX, but stupidly tried L’Oréal Botanicals after boots seemed to discontinue the PureColour shampoo and it’s AWFUL - turned me in to an itchy scalped nightmare. H&S sorted it out and actually hair is in good nick so sticking with it for now.
