Interview outfit

Can anyone help with ideas?
On a budget, ordered a nice shift dress off ebay and it doesn't fit, far too short.
Have a black pencil skirt but nothing to go with it. On an extreme budget for this also and limited high street shops.

have you got any charity shops near you? might be worth a look in them. or, have a look on ebay for a blouse (probably a subtly patterned one?) to go with the skirt x

Thinking a little outside the box, do you have any local Facebook groups where you could put an appeal out to borrow something?

We have a local "housewives of..." group (very tongue in cheek) and people are forever sharing clothes and accessories for weddings, funerals and interviews.

Dp you have any fitted cardigans ? That would work with a pencil skirt.

Can you borrow a shirt/blouse from a friend? A simple crisp shirt with your pencil skirt would look great. Or else H&M do cheap ones, less than £15.

I've interviewed lots of people and can honestly say the only time I notice what they're wearing is when it's obviously wrong (for example the woman who turned up in a wrap dress so low cut I could see her whole bra).

Basic smart interview clothes should be neutral and comfortable, and enable all concerned to just focus on the interview itself.

Sainsbury’s and Tesco actually have sone nice smart clothes.

On line shops???? M&S have decent interview blouses and they are not too much money. So many options eithout leaving home!

Thanks all, have looked in a few charity shops over last few weeks and not alot of formal wear, could be due to where I live.
Didn't want to order online for some thing not to fit again.
Have a chiffon blouse/shirt, plus plain under vest from Matalan and some new nude tights, all came in to meet my £20 budget, phew.
Just need to swat up a little more on the company and I'm good to go Smile

Good luck with the job . Don’t forget to let us know how it goes.

Good luck. Like a previous poster I interview a lot & very, very rarely do I notice what a candidate is wearing. Clean and tidy is fine. Your outfit sounds fab. X
