47 year old out in Manchester

Hi all

I'm off to a 40th birthday weekend in Manchester and wanted some recommendations on where to go and what to wear? the women seem to make much more of an effort when they go out than down here (South East) and I don't want to feel out of place. I like to think I'm quite cool in what I wear when I go out but am looking for some tips!

Also, where is nice to go out? bars? maybe a club? I still love hands in the air house music but also the laid back Blue Marlin Ibiza type music....

Any recommendations??

I go out in Manchester a lot. I would say there is no specific way to dress. That's what's so great about Manchester people dress in lots of different ways.

Some great places to try is Albert Sloss, this is a great bar that has great live music and a free photo booth downstairs. Revolution De Cuba is also a great place to go as on a Friday 3-7 they have 2-4-1 cocktails on all cocktails.

If you were thinking of food there are lots of great little places in the Northern Quarter. But just to warn you it can get quiet busy on a Friday night with people coming out after work and going out for food and drinks.

I agree with PP anything goes clothing wise in Manchester, I wouldn't worry about standing out in any way no matter what you wear.

The food in The Botanist is bad the cocktails are great. There are lots of good places to Eaton Spinningfields. Had dinner at Scene Indian Street Kitchen. Excellent food we didn't have a booking and had to wait at the bar for thirty minutes.
