Help! Bridesmaid dresses for a size 8 and size 26?

Can anyone help me to pick a dress for my bridesmaids. I need one that will suit a size 8 and a size 26 and it’s proving very difficult.

I don’t know if going to an actual bridesmaid dress shop will be easier but I think it’ll be costly. Looking online at Asos, chi chi London and struggling to find a dress that suits their body shape and Is available in all their sizes. I also have one bridesmaid that is size 10 and another size 14.

Any suggestions?

Is your heart set on them all wearing exactly the same dress? It might be possible to find a range that has slightly differing styles in the same colour, that would complement each other but allow each bridesmaid to be in the style that suited her best...

There’s a bridesmaid range called two birds and if I’m correct it might work

My opinion won’t be popular but the same dress for a very large woman and a normal slim woman will look awful and emphasise how much bigger the overweight woman is.

Far better to go with the same colour but individual styles that flatter the different figures.

Same dress only really suits if all are of a similar height and size.

So if I go with the same colour and different dress will I need to go to a bridesmaid shop?

I worry that ordering from an online shop then the shades will be different colours.

I agree with previous posters, you’d be better off choosing different dresses in the same or similar colours.

Just to offer my sympathy.
I've no real suggestions. I had a size 8 and a size 18 and I think they both felt their dresses weren't right.

At least no one can accuse you of being a bridezilla because you're not force-feeding one or demanding that the other get liposuction.

Good luck Smile

I think it actually looks a bit more classy anyway to have bridesmaids in the same colour but different styles. And certainly if you have such a range of sizes.

You can get those multiway dresses that basically have long bits of material at the top that you can tie in loads of different ways. I had these and it didn't look odd as they were the same dress. Got them from Oasis but loads of online places do them X

Try chi chi London or scarlet and jo for the size 26. Chi chi London has some beautiful dresses that might work, they have a curve range.

I had four BM's from a size 10 up to a 24 and just went to a bridal store in the end. I went for two different styles of dresses in two different colours- so my size 24 friend and busty chum had v neck dresses with almost an empire line, then the two who were a size 10-12 were in more of a long shift style. There was a bridesmaid in each colour and style if you see what I mean.

Bridal stores are obviously pricier but have the benefit of being able to get similar dresses/styles in the same colours or materials in a wide range of sizes, so it's easier for us mere mortals to acheive some cohesion. But you have to accept you'll be paying more for that!

It's really nice you are being considerate to all. My bridezilla sister bought me a size 10 ( I was a 14 at time ) and told me to lose weight. I dropped 2 stone and it still didn't zip because I havent been a size 10 since I was 10.
I was sacked from the wedding party.
Have you seen the multiway dresses ?

ODFOx · 01/09/2019 15:28

pick a colour you can match easily and a length and let them pick their own so they are comfortable.

Think Will and Kate's wedding: all in white but different designs for flower girls and adult bridesmaid. The same would apply for adults with different styles and body shapes. Pull it together with hair accessories and flowers.

Don't get the same dress for everyone except the biggest: it will look better if they are all different rather than sorting them into the plus sizes and standard sizes.

Hermie12 · 01/09/2019 15:40

Would def go different style but with same designer and colour. I managed to keep my 2 adult bridesmaids happy and as the designer was the same non colour match wasn’t a concern. This was lucky as one bridesmaid was based in the uk and the other in the States so we didn’t see the dresses together until 2 days before the wedding !

queenofmycastlex · 01/09/2019 16:03

I had a similar situation at my wedding and we used two birds dresses, they fitted everyone and can be tied in loads of different ways to suit both shapes.

siriusblackthemischieviouscat · 01/09/2019 16:15

I was a bridesmaid a size 20, another bridesmaid was a tall size 10.

Bride just asked us to go for same colour (although third bridesmade chose a colour that wasn't quite imo what bride had asked for but bride was fine with it). She did want us to all buy from asos but they weren't great for bigger women so i bought from simply be.
