Boiled Wool Coat

So I've seen a boiled wool coat for sale, it's not lined but described as a coat. Is there something special about boiled wool, is it water repellent at all?

I wouldn't call it water repellent but more so than non treated wool. It wears really well, really tough fabric sort of like a felt finish

Thanks.

I have an army surplus overcoat made of boiled wool.
It isn't lined and it is the warmest coat I've ever had.
It isn't waterproof but it takes a lot of water for me to get wet. If you go out in a downpour it takes a while for it to fry out.

If it’s grey please post a link as I’m still after a grey boiled wool coat from years ago that I didn’t buy and bitterly regret!

Ooh I love boiled wool. Desigual make some coats in weird and wonderful colour combinations. Promod do some in black or grey, not always but often enough. I missed out on the most interesting Anthropologie boiled wool coat a few years ago, it was cream with a design of a skyline/city in red and black I am still looking on eBay and Etsy hoping to find it one day.
It isn't water repellent and doesn’t have to lined but it is a very, very warm fabric.

boiled wool coat

It comes in charcoal, there's 20% off today. I think the zip stops it from sitting flat, plus I'd preferred a hidden zip.
