Ankle length trousers/ culottes

I have finally lost two stone, three years after the baby was born and have headed into the shops.

I love the culottes and shorter trousers with flats and they flatter me (tall, short waisted) but will they make it to winter? What shoes can you wear with them when it is cold? Will they be out of style next autumn? I need to buy almost an entire new wardrobe so I am trying not to have my head turned by pretty clothes that won't last.

You can wear them with ankle boots in winter and some people wear socks. Personally it's the flash of skin that I like so, for me, it's been an April-October look only so far, although I might change my mind this winter.

As for whether they'll last, it's impossible to know but, in uncertain times, designers tend to play safe so I doubt they'll be dreaming up anything too wild at the moment. Also shapes tend to last longer than other trends - look how long it's taking skinnies to die out. So my feeling (but don't put your house on it) is that a wider leg will probably be here for a while yet, although I suppose the shorter length might not be.

Yes I agree ankle boots look really good with cullottes. Pointed toes look better imo.
