Keratin Straightening

I’m planning to get keratin straightening done tomorrow. I’ve checked that the salon uses formaldehyde free products, but I’m having a little wobble... I have a baby who puts everything in her mouth - including my hair! How dangerous would it be for her to ingest the product? Obviously I’ll try to avoid this, but sometimes she moves as quickly as a ninja and I can’t stop her! Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Even though it's claimed the products are formaldehyde free there is a chemical reaction which makes these products have formaldehyde or a different name.

Unless you are taking her to the salon and anticipate this happening whilst the product is on your hair then you’ve got nothing to worry about? Once it’s done the product will be washed out & there is no risk.

Wear your hair up for three days after the treatment before washing if you're worried.
I'm sure you'll be fine though. I have the same treatment every 12 weeks, and an 8 month old who also puts my hair in his mouth

Thank you all.

@usersouthcoast is it ok to tie hair up? I was told to leave it down? Tying it back would really help.

I always do, been having it done for three years. Just take it down to sleep at night

Thank you. I’ve had it loosely tied back and there’s no kinks so hopefully it’ll all be ok :)
