Shoes for New York

I'm off to NYC next month and really need a pair of comfy yet stylish shoes to wear mostly with skinny jeans or cigarette trousers. I'll be walking a lot! I fancy something like slip on trainers but all the ones in the shops seem to be covered in rhinestones! Do you have any recommendations please?

Do you wear brogues? They’re my comfy shoe option and look a bit smarter than trainers if you’re going straight from sightseeing to dinner/drinks etc.

Brogues would be nice, do you have any in mind? Thanks.

I don’t wear any leather, my brogues are from Will’s Vegan Shoes. They’re super comfy and very well made.

They have the same in black.

There’s loads of good flat shoes on their website, but I really like:

These ones in black and brown wills-vegan-shoes.com/womens-vegan-smart-derbys-black-5344.html

These ones in black, brown, pink wills-vegan-shoes.com/womens-vegan-point-toe-derbys-pink-vegan-suede.html

These flatforms in black, wine, beige wills-vegan-shoes.com/womens-vegan-flatform-laceups-sand.html

And they have smart trainers too in black, brown and white wills-vegan-shoes.com/womens-vegan-smart-sneakers-black.html

They have slip on trainers too actually wills-vegan-shoes.com/womens-vegan-paris-trainers-ii.html but not sure if these would go with your trouser options?

I have been to NY twice. Apart from all the amazing buildings and sights, one of the strongest memories from both visits was aching and sore feet. I thought I was in a stylish place so wore ankle boots, but quickly had to resort to trainers. Pounding those sidewalks is tough on the feet. Once my feet were throbbing so bad I thought I would not be able to go out in the evening. My DH told me to take ibuprofen which worked to my surprise.

Trainers. Preferably proper running trainers. I walked miles and miles in NYC and trainers kept my feet comfy. Spent one day in flat boots and had aching feet.

TheFaerieQueene · 30/08/2019 21:40

Trainers.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 30/08/2019 22:42

Thanks all. Last time I was there I wore Skechers pumps which were comfortable but not exactly stylish. Better get the trainers out and not forget the ibuprofen. By the way, a tip from my dancing days is to rub ibuprofen gel into the balls of your feet. 😉

Have a great time.

I cant imagine wearing anything other than trainers to NY. Those brogues while lovely just scream rubbed, blistered heels to me!
I wore running trainers but also took a normal pair or Pumas. It was nice to alternate and the different styles gave different parts of my feet a rest, if that makes sense!!

Agree trainers. Sketchers are hideous - the trainer equivalent of Crocs - so no wonder you didn't feel stylish last time. Get some decent trainers and you're sorted.
