Hair colour - how long to wait

I had a few face framing highlights added to my dark brown/greying hair and they are basically yellow. I was thinking of getting some low lights put in to try and cover it up. Does anyone know if this is a good solution & how long to wait until I have it done?

I will likely go to another hairdresser as my current one is not long qualified and to be honest she did the same thing a year ago - her solution was toner which didn’t help. She’s good at cutting but don’t think highlights are her strong point Grin

Did the highlights go over natural hair or coloured hair? If your hair is dark either with natural pigment or artificial, then it's hard to get it very light in one sitting without damaging the hair.

It went over natural hair - mixture of brown and grey. She didn’t mention needing another sitting and unfortunately I didn’t realise, until I looked closely at home, how yellow it was.

Why don't you try a purple shampoo to tone down the yellow

I have a purple conditioner actually - tried leaving it for 20 mins to no avail so will try again for longer.
