Best eyeliner

I'm looking for a black eyeliner that won't end up leaving a transferred line on the top of my lid within a few hours (ideally not at all) and also one that will go onto my waterline a nice deep black rather than a watery grey mess which then disappears if it goes on in the first place. I'm happy to buy two products if necessary to do what I want on the lid and the waterline. I've recently tried the urban decay waterline one which is meant to be amazing and to stay put but I haven't got on with it at all as it won't even go on let alone stay!

I used to have this exact same problem and bought lots of pencils hoping they wouldn't transfer to bottom water line/fade/smudge but I never had much luck and after a few hours even the good ones looked terrible!
I visited a Bobbi brown counter at John Lewis and the lovely lady advised that instead of drawing in the waterline itself I should focus on working the pencil directly into the lash line.
I must say it's definitely the answer I was looking for and seems to stay put easily - I've tried this method with cheap and expensive pencils and am always happy with the result!

Ah that's interesting. Maybe I'll try that. Did she suggest a solution for the top too or did she say to try the same thing with that?

I really like this www.superdrug.com/Make-Up/Eye-Makeup/Eyeliner/Makeup-Revolution-Renaissance-Flick/p/758306 and it’s super cheap. It doesn’t smudge at all, I use it on my upper eyelid to draw a thin line or flick, as it’s liquid it does give a strong black colour.

I’d use a soft pencil on the lower lash line rather than the waterline as @hereforyou suggested. I like www.lookfantastic.com/estee-lauder-double-wear-stay-in-place-eye-pencil-1.2g/11141403.html and this can be used for a softer effect on the upper eyelid too if you don’t want the liquid eyeliner look.

I was looking at the double wear one funnily enough as I use the foundation and concealer and always find they stay put.

I swear by Eyeko felt tip ones...they're amazing, last a long time, do waterproof and do mini ones too. They have offers on all the time.
