Cheaper alternative to Philips Lumea?

I've heard rave reviews for the Lumea so I'm thinking of getting something similar.
I need it mainly for facial hair as I'm sprouting black hairs on my chin which grow back within days of being plucked Blush
I'm not sure I can justify the price tag though, has anyone had success with something similar but cheaper?

I have been looking into this but I just didn't dare go 'cheap' . I really felt i needed to know and trust the brand name- to be sure it would be safe to use.
I researched on Amazon for laser hair removal and there are cheaper options but I ended up buying the Lumea Prestige from John Lewis for £325(eek). It's being delivered tomorrow!!!!!

The latest one is on the Phillips website for £325, new customers extra 15% off.
Then I got a pop up saying (when my order was complete) if I opened a customer account I would get 5% off that order too (I didn't, but rang the helpline who told me that if I don't return it for a refund, ring them back and they will refund me the 5% - wasn't on hold and the call took 5 mins, so am fairly confident I will get the further discount)...so in total it was £260.
I guess resale on eBay will be high, and you could probably get most of your money back if you sell it on at some point?

I got one from ALDI for under £100 Lidl’s have also done similar device. I have found it very effective.

Just ordered the prestige myself. There is a code that will get you 20% off if you order before 1/9 - UK2-XK5T-335Y-YRXR. Delivery is free too. I looked at cheaper ones but they are much slower and have much shorter lamp lives. HTH

Sorry, should have said this was on the Philips UK site

Blastandbollocks · 31/08/2019 20:07

I've got the Veet one...

It’s often on amazon Black Friday on one of those sales. That’s when I got mine.

dancemom · 31/08/2019 20:30

@swissmilk could you link to the one you referred to, I can't seem to see one at that price

swissmilk · 31/08/2019 20:45

@dancemom .... sorry I've just looked at the Phillips site and the price has gone back up to £475 (I think, unless Ive got my models mixed up).
John Lewis have it for £325 (plus you get 2 year guarantee).

Prestige is coming up for £325 on the Phillips website now when you add to basket. Just trying to see if I can get the 15% off on top of that ...

dancemom · 31/08/2019 20:54

I actually just found a voucher code giving a further 20% off so it's now down to £260 - that's just asking to be bought isn't it??

I wondered about this too and spent way too much time reading reviews etc and worrying about fakes from china etc. In the end I got the lumea on special offer from Costco for £200 on recommendation from someone on here. I notice it is now back up to £245 but that is still a good price. I prefer the corded one as the cord is long and you don't have to worry about charging it when you haven't used it.
