Can anyone help me find cheaper versions of these dresses?

I went for a personal shopper session at JL - the assistant brought me two lovely Hobbs dresses which I stuck on my credit card but now I'm getting cold feet about spending so much on two dresses.

Can anyone suggest where else would do similar please?! One is a proper wrap dress, the other a faux-wrap.

They are gorgeous timeless dresses. If they fit well, are well made and you feel gorgeous in them (and your weight doesn't fluctuate too wildly) - then can you consider keeping them.

HappyHammy · 28/08/2019 22:44

What's your ideal budget

ChipInTheSugar · 28/08/2019 22:45

The second one in particular feels gorgeous on. But I've just started the Fast800 diet/way of eating and am hoping the Kgs will be dropping off! Maybe I should take it back, wait a couple of months and see what my weight is doing ...

Hobbs have offers from time to time. Keep one and wait for an offer to buy the other? Their dresses last well and stay smart.

Miniloso · 28/08/2019 22:48

Try Baukjen

HappyHammy · 28/08/2019 22:57

Wallis have similar dresses

IdblowJonSnow · 28/08/2019 23:04

Love the 2nd one. If it looks and feels good and fits well keep it!

IlonaRN · 28/08/2019 23:29

The second one is lovely (although I wouldn't wear black).

Winser London have similar, but probably even more expensive than Hobbs. Baukjen also.

Keep an eye on eBay?

LoveGrowsWhere · 28/08/2019 23:31

There's a Hobbs in McArthur Glen near me so check if near you?

Ifonlyiweretaller · 28/08/2019 23:52

Chipin - if you're serious about your diet I would hold off for a while before spending s lot of money. I'm doing intermittent fasting and am down at least a dress size in 6 weeks. Am having to buy new clothes as my body shape has changed dramatically! (Not that I'm complaining, but I have some lovely stuff that is way too big for me now and can't all be altered).

Nothingcomesforfree · 28/08/2019 23:56

My local charity shops have loads of this style. £7 each and pretty new looking. I bought some for work.

managedmis · 29/08/2019 02:00

Er, if you're looking to lose weight then take them back.

You don't want to waste £300 on dresses you can't wear

managedmis · 29/08/2019 02:02

Voilà

LifeOfBox · 29/08/2019 02:58

Stick with the Hobbs dresses. I wear those wrap dresses all the time, some are going into year 3. Worth the money imo.

LifeOfBox · 29/08/2019 02:58

Weight loss aside!

LoveVelo · 29/08/2019 09:02

Search "Hobbs Delilah wrap dress" on eBay as an outlet seller has very similar in several sizes (NWOT) for £27. (I'm not the seller by the way - just love a good wrap dress!)

ChipInTheSugar · 29/08/2019 09:07

Thanks for the input, everyone! I wasn't even planning on changing my way of eating when I had the styling session, so I hadn't factored that into my thinking/decisions. I think I'll go down the route of seeing what's in their sale/outlets/eBay when I've lost what I need to lose (anecdotally it might be quite quick).

I liked the Next one linked above - maybe slightly too short. Their styles usually suit my body shape, but now I've felt the quality of the Hobbs one it's raised the bar Grin

This Next one is nice too (not a wrap though)

LoveVelo - thanks for the link. I've seen that one on my searches but am trying to steer away from black (the Hobbs one is navy). Exactly what I'm looking for apart from that 👍🏼

Can you set up an eBay search for Hobbs dresses. Agree they look timeless and worth the investment but not if you are serious about losing weight.

I got a lovely Hobbs dress for about £6 a few months ago. Also a Hobbs trench for £13 both really nice and I would have been happy to buy them new but I'm also trying to lose weight... although I haven't managed at all but that's for a different thread!

LeithWalk · 29/08/2019 09:28

Try the outlet tab on Divacatwalk. Very similar dresses.

ImperfectTents · 01/09/2019 07:12

Brand alley have some Hobbs dresses

Monty27 · 01/09/2019 07:20

You've invested in dresses that don't/may not fit you?
I'd take them back.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 01/09/2019 08:56

Phase Eight do wrap dresses. Always plenty on EBay.

Forgetable · 01/09/2019 19:24

Yep a quick search for "Hobbs wrap dresses" on eBay and that spotty one is being sold by many places for under £30. I would definitely be sending that one back and buying off eBay!
