Hi all,

My cousin's son is getting married in a few weeks and I'm thinking on wearing this dress from chicwish in cream.

I would dress it down with a non fussy bag and neutral sandals.

FYI the bride is v glamorous, big personality & 20 years my junior.

What do you think?

Will I look in competition with the bride ?

Totally unsuitable, it's cream.

KronksSpinachPuffs · 28/08/2019 00:11

No its inappropriate for someone else's wedding

BlockedAndDeleted · 28/08/2019 00:11

No. Just no.

DramaAlpaca · 28/08/2019 00:12

Not in that colour, not unless you're the bride.

Hoodiesallsummer · 28/08/2019 00:12

No you could be the bride in that.

Thestral · 28/08/2019 00:14

Absolutely not. Lord, that you even have to ask! Shock

chipsandgin · 28/08/2019 00:16

Fuck no! Basic wedding rules 101 - you just don’t wear a wedding type dress or white to a wedding.

8by8 · 28/08/2019 00:22

You absolutely cannot wear that, it’s much too bridal.

Totototoro · 28/08/2019 00:24

No. No. No.
Very bridal.

christmasinus · 28/08/2019 00:24

Don't do it!

I went to a wedding recently where someone was in a white floaty dress and it looked inappropriate.

Other people seemed to be constantly talking about it in the queue for the bar/loos etc, doesn't xxx look ridiculous was the perfect icebreaker between strangers. She had made herself into an object of ridicule.

dontgobaconmyheart · 28/08/2019 00:32

I think it's probably obvious by now OP, but just no. And why would you even? Confused. These threads are endless.

HUZZAH212 · 28/08/2019 00:36

Yes if you dye it a different colour beforehand.

Expressedways · 28/08/2019 00:37

If you have ask ‘if you will look in competition with the bride’ the answer is very obviously no that dress is definitely not ok to wear as a wedding guest. Find an alternative outfit where that thought doesn’t even cross your mind and chances are you’ll be on the right track. It’s a lovely dress though, are there any other colour options?

HeadintheiClouds · 28/08/2019 00:39

Of course not. How bizarre that you think you can “dress it down” by the plainness of your bag Confused

MrsEricBana · 28/08/2019 00:39

Nice dress but no.

Derbee · 28/08/2019 00:39

NO. If you need to ask, you know the answer really.

tenmum · 28/08/2019 00:42

Nope

BirthdayDreamer · 28/08/2019 00:43

It's a no. The fact the bride is glam and 20 years your junior has no bearing on it either. It's just far too bridal.

justilou1 · 28/08/2019 00:47

Hell to the no

Lumene · 28/08/2019 00:49

If you are asking the question, the answer is yes. Don’t do it.

FurrySlipperBoots · 28/08/2019 00:49

Nobody should ever wear that dress, on any occasion...

And no, of course you can't wear white/cream/floaty to someone else's wedding.

Lumene · 28/08/2019 00:52

This could work though:

Yes if you dye it a different colour beforehand.

Honeyroar · 28/08/2019 00:52

No. Not because you'd look "in competition" to the bride, but simply because you'd just look completely disrespectful towards the wedding.

Cleopatrai · 28/08/2019 00:55

Hell no.

PastelPotential · 28/08/2019 00:59

if you intend to run down the aisle singing ' It shoulda been me'' yes, otherwise, no.
