Will I look in competition with the bride ?

Hi all,

My cousin's son is getting married in a few weeks and I'm thinking on wearing this dress from chicwish in cream.

I would dress it down with a non fussy bag and neutral sandals.

FYI the bride is v glamorous, big personality & 20 years my junior.

What do you think?

Will I look in competition with the bride ?

No!!!

RosesAndRaindrops · 28/08/2019 01:01

Meh, MIL came to our wedding dressed in cream.
I didn't even notice, couldn't care less what people wear but everyone was like "OMG, did you see she was wearing cream" afterwards lol.
Don't be that person that's talked about.
It wasn't a dress to be fair, but it was a cream skirt, jacket and hat.
Just no, you'll be talked about or remembered for evermore but not for the right reasons Grin

Absolutely not appropriate, sorry.

Tojigornot · 28/08/2019 01:34

I really wouldn’t.

cakeandchampagne · 28/08/2019 01:49

That dress would make you look jealous. Pick something else.

BanningTheWordNaice · 28/08/2019 01:55

If it were my cousin I honestly wouldn’t care but I rarely say this - don’t wear that dress it really does look bridal. You’ll feel uncomfortable and might even cause a weird family feeling depending on what your family are like.

tryingtobebetterallthetime · 28/08/2019 02:24

My best advice is DO NOT wear that dress to a wedding. Just no.

petyeti · 28/08/2019 02:44

No, just no. You will just look like an attention seeker.

Alicewond · 28/08/2019 02:55

You knew it was inappropriate, yet you asked anyhow?

Alicewond · 28/08/2019 02:56

Are you hoping a cheap news feed will read this?

MoaningMinnie1 · 28/08/2019 02:59

No, don't wear that. It's not very nice anyway, even if you could get it in a different colour.

Alicewond · 28/08/2019 03:05

This does sound a bit like a journalist short on stories trying to make one.

Skittlenommer · 28/08/2019 03:13

No, no, no and no again.

Generally if you have to ask the question ‘will I look in competition with the bride’ then you’re considering an inappropriate outfit!

HaileySherman · 28/08/2019 06:00

Sorry OP, white/cream/ivory....none appropriate for a wedding unless you're the bride. Even if the bride doesn't care (i wouldn't have tbh) no doubt there'll be people with nothing better to do than gossip about it and make a big deal.

DidYeAyee · 28/08/2019 06:03

Definitely not. It would be nice in a minty sort of colour though, could you dye it?

FenellaMaxwell · 28/08/2019 06:03

You can’t wear that to a wedding!

Ilikethisone · 28/08/2019 06:10

Please tell me this is a reverse.

You cant possibly think this is ok to wear for a wedding.

StateOfMind · 28/08/2019 06:14

No, don’t wear it. It would be a massive faux pas.

dudsville · 28/08/2019 07:43

Absolutely fabulous dress, and no, it can't be worn to a wedding.

Lori67 · 28/08/2019 19:30

Where I live it is fairly common for the bride's mother or the groom's mother to wear cream ( as long as it's not full length) depending on the type of the wedding. I would be more concerned that it would look like u might be in competition with the mums or other major players at the wedding

HeadintheiClouds · 28/08/2019 19:36

That’s not a mother of the bride dress...

Alarae · 28/08/2019 19:40

I abide by the rule of "if you have to ask, then the answer is no".

Don't be that person. Even if you think it is fine I guarantee the majority of the wedding guests will not and will comment.

HomerDancing · 28/08/2019 19:41

NO !

moonpiggle · 28/08/2019 19:47

Yes you will.
