Does anyone know anything about the curly girl method?

I keep seeing this come up on social media. As someone with frizzy problem hair I'd like to try it but can't seem find much info.

As far as I can tell you need to use certain hair products (without sulphate I think?) and basically just avoid heat styling and over brushing.

Has anyone else tried it? Do you know the specifics and has it worked for you? And are there any suitable products you can buy in the supermarkets/boots or is it all expensive internet based stuff?

We cgm with our daughter and is basically about not putting nasty chemicals and making hair healthy and moisturised. Your ment to ditch the shampoo and use cg friendly conditioner to wash your hair with, only comb with a wide tooth comb or fingers when wet and with conditioner in. Superdrugs extracts conditioner are cg friendly and cheap and there's quite a lot of products you can use. Curlsbot is a page you can copy and paste ingredients from products and it will tell you if its cg approved i use it a lot to check things before i buy.

You need to make sure that you do not use any products that contain silicone.

The reason silicones are not permitted is because they build up on your hair and you can't remove them with a cowash. Cowashing is washing your hair with a silicone free conditioner only - no shampoo - as described above. Air drying or plopping is also recommended.

It's not a quick fix - done properly it's quite hard work to start with.

Look at the Facebook pages or google for 'curly girl method simplified'

In simple terms
Using all approved products and no brushing or towel drying

Wash with conditioner or a co wash
Condition as usual. You can wash it all out or leave some in
Some people use an actual leave in conditioner
Some people use styling products which can be one or a combination of gel, mousse, cream, custard
Dry (air or diffuse) and don't touch it until dry
If it's crunchy when dry then scrunch it until it's soft

That's really really basic but it is trial and error. My hair likes gel so I use a fair bit but I can't leave conditioner in
