Facial sunscreen recommendations

I am almost out of face sunscreen - typical it's going to be hot this weekend eh! I wear it every day regardless of weather though. I reckon I have enough to last the weekend.

I cannot get my two favourites quickly enough (Benefit dreamscreen and the bodyshop multiprotection essence that is currently out of stock after a recall at the start of the summer)

Can anyone recommend one I can buy tomorrow on a well stocked high street pls? I want factor 50 and mustn't leave that white sunscreen residue as I've got dark skin. My skin is also fairly sensitive.

Thank you!

I've been using La Roche Posay's Anthelios Shaka Fluid Invisible. They sell it in Boots. It's factor 50 but a very light liquid and leaves no residue. Nicest face sunscreen I've ever used and I've tried a lot!

Agreed, the LRP one is really good. Another that gets good reviews (but I haven’t tried yet) is the REN mineral sunscreen. You can get it at M&S.

Apileofballyhoo · 23/08/2019 16:13

La Roche Posay sensitive eyes one is ok too, but I haven't tried the one mentioned above, it might be better. It's a chemical one so there is no white cast.

Another vote for LRP it's also lovely under make up. On me it's almost total sunblock.

Superdrug often have it on offer.

TryTry123 · 23/08/2019 16:22

Jason mineral sunscreen, factor 45 at Holland and Barret.

cloud1183 · 23/08/2019 16:59

I like heliocare advanced gel 50. It definitely doesn’t leave any residue and is really light. It’s oil free so good if you have spots

Zeldaaa · 23/08/2019 17:15

I also have been using LRP recently and like it

Cherryade8 · 23/08/2019 17:36

I like the Ren one in m&s too, plus the Altruist one on Amazon. I didnt get on with LRP it made my skin spotty.

Viticulture · 23/08/2019 17:45

Cetaphil day cream 50spf
Available in boots and superdrug

Oly4 · 23/08/2019 17:48

My local Body Ship still has Skin Defence 50 in stock in case you have a store a bit further afield!

woodhill · 23/08/2019 17:51

Neutrogena is good. Hate it when some creams pill over your moisturiser- why's?

clucky3 · 23/08/2019 18:03

I like the body shop SPF50 one. I find the LRP leaves my face looking white

WeCameToDance · 23/08/2019 18:03

I like the Kiehl's gel formula one. It's factor 50+. I find make up goes over it really well and it spreads and sinks into the skin really quickly.

marmiteloversunite · 23/08/2019 22:39

I use this Nivea one every day. Sinks into the skin nicely with no white residue.

I like the beauty pie one. Great for my sensitive skin

JoyceDivision · 23/08/2019 22:44

Superdug own brand, small tube, spf50, I've been using it 2 weeks on holiday and it is fab, was on buy one get one half price

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/08/2019 11:45

I use the Superdrug one too, spf 30 though as my oily skin doesn’t like the 50.

nothingwittyhere · 24/08/2019 12:07

@Oly4 where is your Body Shop that still has the SPF50 Essence? It's been sold out in every BS I've looked for it for weeks and when I queried it on Twitter they couldn't say when it would be back.

LagoDiComo · 24/08/2019 12:25

I’ve been looking in stores for the BS one and no sign (London)

I use the Cetaphil one mentioned by a PP

doyoureallylikeit · 24/08/2019 12:31

Heliocare is amazing but it's not high street. Private clinics stick it depending on if you have one near you ?

Isleepinahedgefund · 24/08/2019 21:39

Thank you for all the recommendations! I went for the LRP one from boots.

The bodyshop one - there is a factor 30 spray version that's still available everywhere but every branch I've been in has told me the factor 50 fluid version was taken off shelves because of a manufacturing issue and should be back at the end of the summer.

I like Cetaphil best, LRP is good but I dislike the fragrance.
