I’m trying to take more care of myself after years of looking like rubbish in oversized T-shirt’s and leggings. The beauty side of things I can do. I know my skin type and I’m a hairdresser so know what hair suits etc. When it comes to clothes however I’m stuck.

I’m 35. I’m 5ft 8. I am an apple shape (size 16-18) with wide square shoulders. Any advice on what might suit? Any influencers/instagrammers to look out for? I want to look smart casual and I’m quite funny about my big tum. I don’t have big boobs at all so really low cut doesn’t look right but buttoned up to the neck with square shoulders also looks crap.

Any ideas? Lol

Look at susannah and Trinny I am a very petite apple with broad shoulders (as in very vertically challenged and not yet overweight).

What they recommend works really well for me.

I toyed with the idea I was a vase shape for a while but the apple clothing styles def are the most flattering.

V-necks
Straight cut dresses above the knee
Tops that end mid hip height
Slim fit trousers.

I do wear a padded bra to give me more boob so everything skins my tummy more easily.

Never even try a wrap dress... or one that nips in at the waist.

Shift dresses are your friend.

Or those blouses that are neat on the shoulder but floaty at the bottom.

Wallis is excellent for apples, and Dorothy Perkins can be good too. Mantaray in Debenhams can be good for casual clothes as they have that relaxed shape.

I agree wrap dresses are horrendous and should be avoided at all costs. And anything with any kind of defined waist, even a belt can be dodgy.

Straight cut dresses work for me. With a denim jacket. Midi skirts and boho tiered dresses also look weirdly stylish on me.

Yes straight dresses and shift dresses! I have liked these in the past thanks!

Tried wrap dresses before and looked pregnant so won’t be going there again lol. Have the same effect with maxi dresses.

Will try more v necks and padding around the boobage. Thank you
