Can anyone recommend a shampoo that will help with greasy hair.
After I have my hair highlighted o can go a day without washing my hair. However as I'm getting near to my appointment I can wash my hair in the evening to go out and next morning it is a lank mess unsuitable for work.
Last time I went to the hairdresser he suggested a clarifying shampoo. I got a Pantene one which was terrible and since read it wasnt the best choice for me I do use conditioner but only from the middle section down and no where near the roots.

So any ideas of brands that could help or suggestions to stop me look like an oil slick ever 8 hours!

L'Oréal Elvive Clay roots shampoo is the only one that works for me. My hair would need washing everyday it gets so greasy, but with this shampoo I can get away with washing it every other day.

That's looks interesting. I've just googled the range.. Have you used the hair mask?

I have the same problem op.
I want to stop the highlights trap that I'm in but I get to a stage where I just give up and get them done. Every. Single. Time.
I have tried boots natural one and also the Australian one (sorry not I'm not at home and can't remember the names). I wouldn't recommend either!

I was talking to my hairdresser last week about how rubbish most shampoos are and how fed up I am at wasting my money on bottles that I end up throwing out. She said she no longer recommends any high street/ supermarket brands because in her experience the professional ones just outclass them by miles. I know you might be suspicious of her motive but she doesn’t actually sell any products, and she didn’t name any particular ones.
I’m coming to the conclusion that she’s right. Anyway I’ve just ordered L’Oréal pureology so fingers crossed!

You could try a shampoo with no silicone or SLS and gradually extend the time between washes. Your scalp might be over- producing oil because it’s being stripped of the good stuff.

I have really greasy roots but still need conditioner for the ends.

I use Herbal essences usually, it has to be a clear shampoo and I use wella elements conditioner.
I did use the wella shampoo but I have a patch of seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp that needs a stronger shampoo to keep it at bay.

I used to have this issue until I started using conditioner first on damp hair, rinsing it out and then using shampoo! Game changer for me

Daffodil2018 · 19/08/2019 18:31

Do you use dry shampoo? That gives me an extra day between washes. It actually looks better the days I've used dry shampoo - more volume.

I like the Charles Worthington micellar shampoo and conditioner from Boots too.

I second @Daffodil2018 dry shampoo is AWESOME. Trick is to put it on at night (use loads) the go to bed and it gets all mooshed in and you get volume and no grease.

I want to stop the highlights trap that I'm in but I get to a stage where I just give up and get them done. Every. Single. Time My life!!

I have struggled with dry shampoo! I have followed the hairdressers advice but no matter what I do my hair just flops and hangs and cant be styled! I've just had my shower and washed my hair but I'll dry the dry shampoo before bed tonight. Its last chance salon for it though. If it doesn't work in the morning the can is going!!!
It's another 3 weeks before my hair appointment so I'm going to suffer and I can guarantee the say before my appointment my hair will be fantastic and look really styled! Always the way!

I love Aveda shampure...I buy a big £46 bottle but it lasts ages and ages....maybe try and get a sample from a counter before you try it? I used to have to wash my hair everyday but now it lasts longer. I use it with a Dove conditioner.

A shampoo bar from the little goat milk soap company might work - definitely dries my hair but it’s amazing for my itchy scalp so could be good combination for you?
