Looking back on old photos

I had a big sort out of my old photos over the weekend, about 20 years worth and it was so fun looking back at my old clothes! I remembered lots of them as being old favourites. Surprisingly many of my old favourites were Primark rather than anything expensive. It really helped me see what suits me, particularly colours, lots of bright pinks and reds which I don't wear anymore but they really seem to suit me so I might have to start buying more.

I think I've got more conscious of fashion rather than what suits me, also I had some great coats, a red cord number that I'm going to search for a new version of! Anyone else have any old favourites they wish they still had? I can highly recommend looking back at old photos if you are finding yourself struggling for what suits you currently!

Nothing in old photos suits me. So I can learn to stay away from old mistakes lol. Only since I’ve been in my thirties have I realised the importance of wearing what looks good on me rather than what looks good on the hanger. I’ve never written really followed trends but was kind of stuck in a rut that didn’t even complement my figure. I’m still a bit lost when it comes to ‘my style’ but I feel I’m getting there!

I definitely don't have a 'style' I'd love to develop one though! I go through phases of thinking 'just wear black' it's easier and covers a multitude of sins, but while it looks so chic on other women, I just look like I'm going to a funeral! I think I cover myself too much as well, looking back the things that look good reveal a bit of skin, some nice jewellery, being completely covered looks awful on me, which is a shame as I feel the cold!

Black doesn’t look chic on me either lol. I have a big tum and small boobs so I tend to go for oversized, baggy, tent type clothes in grey, mustard or blue. I think I need to wear more accessories though, something I always forget about Blush

I love old photos - the clothes always make me laugh. They also remind me that a lot of what we think of as flattering is really just fashion, and that none of it should be taken too seriously.

Also true of old photos is the saying ‘I wish I was as fat now as I thought I was back then’

I mostly look back and think I wish i had the knowledge and skills and money to make the most of my looks. Badly applied cheap make up and home bleached hair really did me no favours..

Yeah my Sun-in days ... Grin if they still make it, put it down right now.
