What is worth buying from Boots Number 7?

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 18/08/2019 23:10

I have a £10 off a £20 spend voucher that I would like to use.
I have never bought anything from the Number 7 range and am generally crap with make up and beauty type things.

Could anyone who is better at this than me please tell me what to buy?

I am mid 30s, blonde with hazel eyes, if that makes any difference.

Thanks Smile

Or what to avoid if that is easier.

I really rate their stay perfect lipsticks, last longer than lots of £££ ones!

hammeringinmyhead · 19/08/2019 07:06

I like the Exceptional Definition mascara.

yellowsun · 19/08/2019 07:33

The hydro luminous (I think that’s it) foundation is nice and I like their mascaras.

Goawayquickly · 19/08/2019 07:59

I like the lipsticks and some skincare but I bought their airbrushed powder and it’s dreadful, it looked like I’d used flour on my face.

nitgel · 19/08/2019 07:59

i always use their loose powder

SeroxatBlonde · 19/08/2019 08:02

Their mascaras are fantastic and the clear top coat is amazing- paint your nails then straight away put it on top and it sets rock immediately.

Harryrotter · 19/08/2019 08:12

Have a look if they thy still have the palette which is a free gift with two cosmetics. I bought two mascaras (waterproof and a lash separating one which is more subtle, v pleased with both), and got the palette for free which has a nice blusher and bronzer in and 4 eye shadows, so I paid £13 for all which I was very happy with.

Aderyn19 · 19/08/2019 08:25

I think the nail varnishes are nice and the skin care.

Inforapenny65 · 19/08/2019 08:26

No 7 do some nice nail varnishes too.... I recently used my Boots points on the iwhite teeth whitening strips.... I couldn’t justify spending such a large amount of cash (would feel gutted if they didn’t work)... I start my annual leave this week so will try them out then....

EyeDrops · 19/08/2019 08:33

Lipsticks, they're fantastic. Not sure if they still do it, but a while ago they did a colour match to your skin tone service to give you which shades would best suit you - it was great for me.

roisinagusniamh · 19/08/2019 08:53

Interested in how the Whitening strips work

MoltonSilver · 19/08/2019 09:05

I got them to colour match a foundation for me and I'm pleased with it. Also, the stay perfect lipstick are great. If they suggest a foundation shade for you (you don't have to buy it) they have cards suggesting lipsticks to suit your skin colour.

nothingwittyhere · 19/08/2019 09:21

Their loose powder is good, the pressed airbrush powder is dire. Most of the skincare is good. I've found their foundation colour matching gizmo to be accurate.

SeroxatBlonde · 19/08/2019 10:03

I like the colour matching service but I've tried a few of the foundations and I'm not impressed at all.

dontgobaconmyheart · 19/08/2019 10:03

I quite like their stay matte foundation. Recently tried the hydroluminous one and it's ok but nothing special, I just mix it with others I have to use it up really.

I have the same voucher and was debating using it OP but am torn- I've never really hugely rated anything I've had and I think it is on the expensive side for the quality. I need a new mascara but haven't yet tried a No. 7 one I thought was any good. I picked the highest rated one online last time there was an offer and it's not great.

Am beginning to wonder if I wouldn't be better of binning the £10 off voucher and just spending £10 on other budget makeup bits in a way!

Liverpoolgirl52 · 19/08/2019 10:08

I love their green primer. It’s brilliant to cover redness. I tried too faced and other expensive ones but I always come back to no7 one.

numberonecook · 19/08/2019 10:35

Day cream is fantastic! Light, non sticky and spf15. Never had a breakout since I switched to this from liz earl. My skin is pale and dry

numberonecook · 19/08/2019 10:36

Thanks @Liverpoolgirl52 I’ve been thinking about a green primer for my red conk. Might give it a try :)

CointreauVersial · 19/08/2019 13:34

I like the lipsticks and the mascara. One of the few brands that do a dark navy mascara (flatters my colouring).

Also the skincare is brilliant - Protect & Perfect, Lift & Luminate etc. I usually have a No7 serum and an eye cream on the go.

professionalnomad · 19/08/2019 14:41

Love the hydraluminous foundation

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 19/08/2019 17:42

Ah Neil’s t. Thank you for all of the replies. I will go later this week and have a look at all of the recommendations.
Need a new mascara so that is on the list.

Great. Not Neil. I don’t know where he came from.

High-shine lip crayons are lovely.

bingohandjob · 20/08/2019 05:24

I really rate their mascaras - my preference is the one in the metallic purple tube. Non-fussy brush, great coverage and depth of colour and stays put all day. When I get those vouchers I buy two at a time. I've tried lots and lots of different brands and always go back to the No 7 ones. The tinted moisturiser is reliable.

Don't rate their nail polish, lipsticks, blush or eyeshadows.
