I absolutely adore the whole VW aesthetic but especially the dresses and huge velvet bags. Can anyone point me in the direction of anything similar that doesn't cost the price of a holiday?

I bloody love the Vampires Wife dresses this would be my dream dress if I was rich!

Vampires Wife dresses are so incredibly simple that if you find a good seamstress and some fabric that you like, you could probably get a couple made for around £100 or less (depending on the cost of your fabric). In fact, they are so simple, that anyone who knows their way around the basics of dress making could give it a good go. They are constructed of a basic fitted bodice, basic sleeve and basic skirt block with a frill at the hem & sleeve (you just double the width of the raw edge to calculate the fabric allowance for the frill). Very simple to make.

I've tried them on in Liberty and, whilst they are lovely, they are not worth the huge price tag. I'm a womenswear designer so understand the relationship between material costs & RRP.

The big velvet bags look really simple too, easy to run up on a sewing machine

I love them too. If I could find one that had buttons (there is one real VW one that does but it’s summer dress) I’d buy one. Can’t do the high neck and no buttons for breastfeeding. Doesn’t stop me looking at the website weekly though...
