Who hear likes the ordinary?

Keep seeing & hearing about it. I’ve noticed that it’s really reasonably priced but is it actually any good?

I meant ‘here’ not ‘hear’ Confused

Watching with interest

Zillaah · 11/08/2019 19:38

I have loads of bits, and although it's a bit hit and miss – I hated the Vitamin C Suspension thing – lots of them I would repurchase. Specifically the retinol in squalane and the peeling solution. The primer and rosehip oil are really nice too.

Has anyone tried the hair serum they do? Thinking of adding to my next order.

User10fuckingmillion · 11/08/2019 19:40

.

seeyounexttime · 11/08/2019 19:43

I use and like their rosehip oil, silicone primer, vitamin C suspension, AHA and BHA peeling solution, granactive retinoid and the marula oil. Favourites are the rosehip oil & the peel. I did not like the lactic acid (weird smell!) or salicylic acid (felt like it burnt my skin, I didn't use much either) or foundation (drying, I have combination to normal skin). I really like their stuff, you need to know what you're looking for and what you want it to do but the prices are fab.

Haworthia · 11/08/2019 19:44

It’s pretty unbeatable for the price, the only problem is deciding what you need! I also hated the Vit C suspension so I wouldn’t recommend that. My skin loves Niacinamide so I use that along with Matrixyl every day, although I might swap that for Buffet serum when it runs out.

Apparently they’ll recommend products for your skin concerns if you get in touch via the website.

BelindasGleeTeam · 11/08/2019 19:45

Having had both I much prefer Facetheory

BobbinThreadbare123 · 11/08/2019 19:50

Salicylic acid and the azelaic acid work really well for me. Also used the amino acids which seems to be ok. Niacinamide did nothing but encourage spots, and the AHA peel is a bit harsh for me.

Junobug · 11/08/2019 19:56

I love the retinoid, niacinimide and argan oil. I wouldn't re-buy the moisturiser or foundation. I think it's very good for the price but some of the products do feel quite siliconey and heavy.

Propertyofhood · 11/08/2019 20:03

I find it a bit hit and miss. For me:

Buffet - the absolute bollocks of skincare, best product I have ever used.

Glycolic acid - brilliant for the price, don't know why you would pay 11 more quid for Pixi Glow.

Hylauronic acid - pretty good, although I'm not sure I was using it properly, you are supposed to put it on damp skin I think.

Rosehip oil, salycilic acid, niacimide (sp?), the red facial peel - meh

Primer and moisturising factors - crap.

mrsjackrussell · 11/08/2019 20:13

Iv just bought the retinoid 5% and think it's the best thing ever. Not tried anything else. Everyone has commented on my skin,

yikesanddang · 11/08/2019 20:14

I thought it sounded all so amazing so stopped using my Ridiculously expensive vitamin C and retinoids concoctions after a few months I felt my skin was a bit lacklustre so I restarted with the pricey products and wow, what a difference. I don't know about the science behind it all but I do know that the delivery methods, suspensions and molecular arrangement do have a lot to do with how well products work. I'm back to using my horribly expensive Sunday Riley and Murad products now. I'll use the Ordinary stuff on my body until it's used up. It's just not that great I'm afraid.

Tinks15 · 11/08/2019 20:55

Thanks all, interesting comments. I’ve emailed them my skin concerns & they’ve recommended some products for me, keep reading the reviews on them I just can’t make up my mind whether I should go ahead & try.

Ohyesiam · 11/08/2019 21:03

My skin has always been pretty good, but the ordinary products are amazing, and I’ve had lots f comments / complements

cloud1183 · 11/08/2019 21:45

I really like the products. The only gripe I have is that a few of the vitamin c’s leave a sticky ‘film’ on my skin so I have to use those at night. The salicylic acid and niacinamide are pretty good too.

I have the Granactive Retinoid arriving in the post soon so I’m looking forward to trying that

RuggyPeg · 11/08/2019 21:52

I'm not a fan. I never saw any improvement to my skin with any of their products. I think there's far better out there at a similar price.

ethelfleda · 11/08/2019 22:24

property is that the buffet with copper or just buffet?
I like the vit c - can’t remember which one I use but it’s a cream with a fine grit
The peeling solution is brilliant.

ethelfleda · 11/08/2019 22:25

Their granactive retinol is ok but I have tried better retinols. Medik8 was my favourite but it’s more expensive

Propertyofhood · 11/08/2019 22:39

ethelfleda just the normal Buffet. I didn't realise they had brought out one with copper so just looked it up - blimey, nearly 30 quid, the original is only £12! That was part of the appeal for me, such a great Serum for such a low price. I wonder what is so great about the copper (I shan't be trying it to be honest!)

Summersunshine2 · 11/08/2019 22:46

There prices seem good. I may have to try the Buffet after the comments above.
What have they recommended for you?

Branster · 11/08/2019 23:17

Propertyofhood, Niod (I think it’s them) do a serum with copper which everyone using absolutely loves. Maybe that’s where the inspiration came from?
For some reason, I’ve never been drawn to the Ordinary so following this thread with interest.

Jaybaydba · 12/08/2019 21:13

I've been using there Ordinary products for over 6 months now, the main comments I get is how smooth and soft my skin is, how clear my complexion is and how fresh I look.. and I'm a man.. my GF has started using it and she is seeing benefits already.. it's very good for the prices..it's all about routine and consistency with it..

Tinks15 · 12/08/2019 21:29

So they’ve recommend

Hyaluronic acid 2% +B5
Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
Mandelic acid 10% + HA
Natural Moisturizering factors + HA

Anyone used any of these?

JayHaydba - what products do you use?

OP posts:
TarragonSauce · 12/08/2019 21:41

I use the Hyaluric Acid serum and the Natural Moisturising factors and love them. The serum especially goes on beautifully and is quite cool and refreshing too. Skin feels much smoother and looks really moisturised,
However, I was starting from zilch skincare (total slattern and at 51 it was really showing. Even a bit of lard rubbed in would probably have been an improvement!)
I now also use the silicon primer serum thingy, which is fab.

Strawberries6 · 12/08/2019 21:42

@Propertyofhood If you don't mind me asking, what does buffet do for your skin, please? Thanks!
