The first one is the one I’ve gone for but I’m having doubts - do you think it’s a bit ‘much’?
The 2nd one is me in a more fitted style. I have quite square hips and a mum tum!
Opinions welcome Blush Ignore the artwork to try hide my ID/messy house Grin

The first dress is stunning and you look lovely.

I agree about the veil, definitely have one but change the style. You need to match it to the layers in your dress. The veil you're wearing is very traditional and not suited to that gorgeous dress.

ODFOx · 12/08/2019 14:33

You have picked the right dress. It is stunning and you'll look gorgeous in it.
In the first picture the bottom detail of the veil covers much of the bodice detail of the dress: I think that perhaps the shop was right with the longer length veil.

Ninkaninus · 12/08/2019 14:36

Yes you definitely need a different veil. No flowers or embroidery - I would go for a plain veil with a ribbon edging to echo the style of the dress.

henpartystress · 12/08/2019 14:38

Love the first one it's stunning!

jaggynettle · 12/08/2019 14:43

I love the first one. The second one looks too big for you around the middle - could it be pulled tighter at the back?

You have a lovely figure btw ☺️

looksbetterwithoutthelipstick · 12/08/2019 18:28

This is the first veil they put me in but I decided to go for a shorter one that I could put over my face if I wanted Confused

I think your figure looks better in dress 2

I also think dress 1 has had its day

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 12/08/2019 18:38

Love the first one but the veil doesn't look right.
But a different veil might look better

LittleAndOften · 12/08/2019 18:42

Dress one looks special. Dress 2 looks cheap by comparison. Don't worry about it being a 'bit much', it's about how you feel in it. If you feel glorious, it's the one, and bugger anyone else Grin

TaxiPlease · 12/08/2019 19:17

I love the first dress but I think with a veil it's just too much, especially with the tiara too. I think keep the dress, no veil and different headpiece as I think tiaras are a bit dated/naff. Sorry!

I completely agree with this. Personally, I generally prefer a much more minimalist look, but the first dress looks amazing on you and is a great choice!
With the veil and tiara there is far too much going on, though. Just the dress with flawless make-up and sleek hair would look fantastic, IMO. If you really want a veil, do what others suggested and find something simple that matches the dress better. The tiara is very dated, I'm afraid.

Benjispruce · 12/08/2019 19:19

That dress is on another thread about taking mum to buy a dress.

HellonHeels · 12/08/2019 19:23

Dress 2 looks shapeless and lumpy. And probably hard to sit down in.
I prefer dress 1. I like the longer veil but its possibly more difficult to wear.

peachgreen · 12/08/2019 19:41

Are you going to have it fitted OP? It's too big for you so it's hard to see what it really looks like. I'm afraid I agree that the veil and tiara are too much - there's a lot going on with the dress so it really needs simplicity everywhere else.

RubHimSweetly · 12/08/2019 19:58

Shhhh @Benjispruce!

RuthW · 12/08/2019 20:06

Second one is stunning. First one looks just like any wedding dress.

looksbetterwithoutthelipstick · 12/08/2019 20:06

@Benjispruce yeah that’s me, no one is stealing my images but thanks for pointing it out just in case, cos you never know these days! I had to change my name as I accidentally posted a photo on another thread with a family photo in the background.
I think that’s also what’s clouding my judgment/putting a slight dampener on the dress - the fact that mum wishes she had been there.

@TaxiPlease I do understand what you and the poster you quoted are saying. A bit of a ‘too much going on’ kind of thing. I aren’t too stressed about the tiara or veil as I can change my mind on that up until the day really. I think it’s me wanting to be OTT and have everything princess esque that I can! I don’t want to end up looking like a bad Katie price wannabe though!
What do you think to the dress itself?
Also how do you quote people please? Do you just copy and paste their comment and highlight it in bold or is there an actual option to do it?

@peachgreen I’ve been to see a seamstress who is adding cups into it which she thinks will prevent it from looking too big. There is a tiny bit of room to spare in the bodice but I would rather not alter it as I don’t want to be uncomfortable. She’s also adding some lace at the top and getting rid of the mesh.

@LittleAndOften thank you!

OP posts:
looksbetterwithoutthelipstick · 12/08/2019 20:14

@LittleAndOften it’s funny you say the second looks cheap in comparison as my dress was £699 - the second dress was £1400!! x

the first one is stunning - especially the back - really unusual. I think the second one is a bit 'blah' personally

looksbetterwithoutthelipstick · 12/08/2019 20:17

@jaggynettle thank you! yes the second dress was just off the rack and was a size 14. I was shocked though as I tend to wear size 14s and they told me to expect wedding dresses to come up small - mine is a 12 with room!

I prefer the first one!
