Hello everyone.
I'm returning back to Full time Work and have to dress Smart, but only for the 6 weeks of training before I Get my uniform so I don't want to go overboard on the spending as I'll probably never Wear them again after this, as I live in my Comfy Jeans Grin
I've so Far got a Pair Of Black tailored Tapered Trousers, Navy cigarette Pants & Check formal Type.
I'm in need of Tops. I'd Rather Plain, and short sleeve if Possible!
Any ideas? I want to look Super smart, Non fussy, and that I can mix & match and that are Really cheap!
Help me please Smile

You could do worse than look at Sainsbury’s Tu for tops around the £12 mark, they wash well and don’t need ironing if you hang them straight up. I’d have a root around Debenhams perma sale too. How about a jacket to pull everything together.

Ninkaninus · 09/08/2019 09:28

M&S does some pretty good work separates.

Scoleah · 09/08/2019 09:31

Fab thank you both,I will have a Look now!
I have a Week to Buy everything!
Jacket would be a Good idea too!
Feel like I'm starting totally from Scratch, My previous job was Very relaxed as wasn't customer Facing, and I'm really not used to the "smart" look!
Thank you for taking your time to respond Grin

If you want a lovely pair of work shoes M&S do pretty good shoes - leather, nice styles (chunky brogues! ❤️), good prices.

Chilledout11 · 09/08/2019 09:34

If it's only for six weeks you couldn't best primary for shirts. Some nice ones in at the moment.

Ninkaninus · 09/08/2019 09:35

If you’re looking online remember M&S sizes come up on the big size. If you’re between sizes I’d go for the smaller size. Their shoes too, I would size down half a size if you can.

Chilledout11 · 09/08/2019 09:35

Primark

Ninkaninus · 09/08/2019 09:35

LaPampa · 09/08/2019 09:36

I’d look in uniqlo. They have good tops / shirts for work that wash well and some of the ones I have don’t need ironing either if you hang them to dry.

Scoleah · 09/08/2019 09:40

Would something like this Be suitable?
I'm thinking it's something more floaty around my Pits, as I don't want sweat patches as I'm a SweaterBlush
Oh I hadn't even thought about Shoes!

Never shopped on uniqlo @LaPampa what's the Sizing like?

OP posts:
Scoleah · 09/08/2019 09:44

Any jacket suggestions you can recommend @Goawayquickly ?

OP posts:
LaPampa · 09/08/2019 09:47

@Scoleah I’ve always found uniqlo true to size - I’m a 10 and would order a S or M in women’s (depending on what it is) and XS in men’s (sometimes their plain jumpers are nicer in men’s)

LaPampa · 09/08/2019 09:49

For example something like this could be styled a number of ways www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-drape-34-sleeved-blouse-418398.html

BIWI · 09/08/2019 09:54

Definitely recommend Sainsbury's range. Good prices and also their clothes wash really well.

And sorry - but I have to ask you @Scoleah - why do you keep using random capital letters in your posts?!

Scoleah · 09/08/2019 09:58

@BIWI Sorry about the random capitalisation! I didn't even notice i was doing it until you pointed it out! Blush

Maybe have a look here www.everything5pounds.com/en/New-Arrivals/c/new-arrivals

Deathraystare · 09/08/2019 12:25

For an interview I put on my George white shirt. It was cotton. Yes! That rarest of material! I cannot remember if it was long sleeved I think it was 3/4 maybe? I also wore Star by Julien Macdonald black trews that were straight with zips on the pockets. Didn't get the job but felt well dressed enough.

Deathraystare · 09/08/2019 12:27

Is it Julien Macdonald? Julien something anyway! But I bought these a few years ago but have seen smart trews around everywhere at the moment (mostly materials I cannot wear though!)

Scoleah · 09/08/2019 12:59

My Trousers just came back from Boohoo (Navy cigarette pants).
I wasn't expecting much, but they are perfect. Nice Material, they have stretch in them & they look Really smart!
They really are the perfect Pair, non restrictive, sit well when I tuck in and feel lovely on!
I'm 5'4 and a 12, and they came just above my Ankle, also going to buy another pair in the black..
Link here if anyone was interested.
Only £14.40 too!

Ooo I forgot about George! @Deathraystare

Deathraystare · 09/08/2019 13:17

Scoleah - I don't normally go there but sometimes when down in Southampton if I am not too laboured down with cases and bags (off the coach visiting my aunt) I will sometimes take a look. I think I only paid a £5er. Got some nice black trews I think as well.

Juanmorebeer · 09/08/2019 13:47

Go to charity shops. Go to an area with a few and do them in a couple of hours. They are always full of workwear.
