Help me find this 1980s classic aftershave

I think I've sniffed every aftershave bottle under the sun - cheap and expensive - but can't identify this smell. It's the waft you get from a well-groomed Italian/French man of a certain age, out promenading early evening. Pastel jumper over his shoulders, well made loafers, slightly bouffant hair - that kind of thing... It was definitely v popular in the 80s so nothing newfangled. Quite a pine smell - maybe a bit of zest - smells like holidays. Any Mumsnet super-sniffers with any idea what I'm talking about?!

Aramis?

showgirl63 · 08/08/2019 17:42

Kouros?

DonPablo · 08/08/2019 17:43

Drakar Noir or Fahrenheit. Both such 80s smells!

CitadelsofScience · 08/08/2019 17:45

Kouros was a classic 80's scent.

Hidingtonothing · 08/08/2019 17:48

I immediately thought Kouros, my first ever bf wore it Smile

mrssmiling · 08/08/2019 17:57

I thought Kouros too.

Soola · 08/08/2019 18:05

Possibly Acqua Di Gio

Moonflower12 · 08/08/2019 18:11

@Soola
Cool Water came out at Christmas in 1991! The same time as Joop. I was working on Boots perfume counter!

woodhill · 08/08/2019 18:13

Polo in a green bottle, Joop,or Obsession?

MyFoofIsAloof · 08/08/2019 18:14

Could it be Pino Silvestre OP?

Butterymuffin · 08/08/2019 18:16

Sounds like Kouros. Loved it on men when I was younger..

SkelterHelter · 08/08/2019 18:20

Azzaro, Pour Homme (Paco Rabane) or Jazz are the others which came to mind.

JammyChristmas · 08/08/2019 18:38

Not expensive but Quorum aftershave might be a contender, can get it in the likes of bodycare and home bargains etc

Auldspinster · 08/08/2019 19:16

Aqua di Parma?

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 08/08/2019 19:37

Sounds very like Paco Rabanne to me!

I loved it and would buy a range right now if I could

TheresWaldo · 08/08/2019 19:40

Antaeus by Chanel. I loved this and used to steal my dad's.

PanamaPattie · 08/08/2019 19:40

Blue Stratos?

ChippyMinton · 08/08/2019 19:51

4711 cologne

Mumthedogsbeensick · 08/08/2019 20:04

Eau sauvage? The original one in the glass and silver bottle.

Screamqueenz · 08/08/2019 20:06

Kerouac would still make me weak at the knees.

Screamqueenz · 08/08/2019 20:07

Korous

XingMing · 08/08/2019 20:07

Another one betting on Paco Rabanne. It was lovely: chic, subtle and rather delicious. In a similar vein, I like French Lover (Frederic Malle) but it is horrendously expensive.

Guiltypleasures001 · 08/08/2019 20:08

Pacco rabanne
Or jazz?

ToEarlyForDecorations · 08/08/2019 20:15

My husband wears Paco Rabanne because I like how it smells when he wears it. Aramis for weekends.

I once bought Jazz cologne for a boyfriend. We split up. Ex-boyfriend left the house wearing the cologne and the shirt I had bought him a few weeks earlier. Hey ho. (That's why I didn't buy my DH Jazz aftershave to wear. I don't want him smelling like ex-boyfriend)
