Teeth whitening

I want whiter teeth but can't afford to have them done at the dentist (quoted £400!)
What products out there actually work and make a significant difference? Are there any?

Wow £400 seems quite steep! I paid £160 for my whitening kit from my dentist. Could you not shop around or maybe try a different dentist? They usually have offers on.

£160 reduced from £200.

I didn't realise that was expensive. My work friend paid similar so just assumed that was standard. I will shop around in that case, thanks. I'm aware a lot of the over the counter stuff doesn't really work but was wondering if there was something I missed that actually did

Quick google and it does seem to be an approx standard price in my area (S Yorks) Where about are you?

Ah okay, im Northwest Preston. I got a whitening kit so I do it myself at home. I have my teeth moulds which my dentist made for me and I got 6 syringes with the whitening gel in. Its brilliant. Once Iv used all my syringes up it cost £17 to replace so I can just keep using as and when I want. I got the kit in May and im on my 6th syringe now.

moonpiggle · 07/08/2019 17:54

The brand of my kit is 'Whitewash Laboratories'.

Philips Zoom is the only one that ever worked for me. Trays made by orthodontist after my brace came off earlier this year.

6 whitening syringes and top and bottom tray = £200.

FFSMelvin · 07/08/2019 18:03

Meant to say before that I tried lots of whitening toothpastes, kits, eBay stuff, Amazon reviewed whitening treatments, etc but the Zoom is the only thing that ever worked.

£200 sounds much more reasonable than what I've been quoted. I'll keep shopping around I think
