Dd’s lack of eyebrows

Rowenaravenclawsdiadem · 04/08/2019 14:11

Dd is being teased at school because her eyebrows are so fair they are almost white and there isn’t a huge amount of hair there either.

I’ve told her to ignore it etc. but she wants to do something about it. What would be the best way? A tint? Bear in mind she is 13!

Has she tried powders/pencils to make them darker

Runkle · 04/08/2019 14:15

Sorry she's feeling pressued into doing something about them. I think a tint would be the best option - cheap, non-invasive, low maintenance..

Rowenaravenclawsdiadem · 04/08/2019 14:17

We haven’t tried anything yet. I had a look in Boots today but couldn’t find anything suitable.

I don’t want her to feel like she has to do something but she is getting increasingly upset by it. I also thought if she experimented over the holidays she could start a new term having found a solution.

I would worry that people will then take the piss that she’s colouring them.
If it was me, I’d find an eyebrow colour and then use it a tiny, tiny bit each day, then after a week use a very little more and so on until they’re the colour she wants. Maybe then get them tinted.

ScreamingValenta · 04/08/2019 14:21

I have very fine eyebrows and find a brow mascara is a good solution - very easy to apply. I use the Rimmell one.

Rowenaravenclawsdiadem · 04/08/2019 14:22

I don’t do anything with my brows bar getting them waxed once a month. Am I looking for a pencil?

Brow mascara would work
Barry m take a brow is v cheap, and to make it more subtle you can wipe the brush on a tissue and then apply
Or a brow bar, maybe have them shaped and v lightly tinted (blink are good but more pricey)

PullingMySocksUp · 04/08/2019 14:23

I find a pen gives a more natural finish. Maybe try this one to see if it’s light enough. It’s pale. I have use it and have to build it up.

There a really nice pale pencil by either Maybelline or L'Oréal.

Encourage her to embrace what she's got though. Give it a year and the slug/felt pen eyebrows will be gone.

iMatter · 04/08/2019 14:34

The problem is she's competing with those hideous unnatural looking slug eyebrows!

I would encourage her to do something subtle if that makes her feel comfortable and hopefully the slug phase will pass.

Rowenaravenclawsdiadem · 04/08/2019 14:35

I know I hate the slug look it’s hideous. I don’t think she wants the slugs I just think she wants some definition.

My dd is the same but she just used a pencil to colour them in.. mine are the same but I like them .. 🤷‍♀️

Isitweekendyet · 04/08/2019 14:39

Soap and glory do a great eyebrow pencil if she’s interested in darkening them a little.

It comes with a spoolie (is that the right word?) that she can use to brush the eyebrow down and a very fine pencil to mimick eyebrow strokes. Very subtle if she’s not after something too heavy.

WeCameToDance · 04/08/2019 14:40

Gosh in superdrug do a little round compact with 3 colour powders in (one of which woild be ideal for blonds) a wax and a little angled brush. I find it really natural and you have to build it up to get a strong look so would be ideal for somebody who just wants a bit more colour. Its really easy to use as well being a powder.

star15 · 04/08/2019 14:40

Take her to get a wax and tint. So much easier than doing it yourself.

Skittlenommer · 04/08/2019 14:45

I have very fair eyebrows and almost fell off my chair after my first wax and tint!!! It gives me the most scrumptious brows. It added so much definition to my face I have never looked back!

HIGHLY recommend!!! It’s a bit of a shock the first time you have it done though!

Skittlenommer · 04/08/2019 14:46

Should add 100% get it done professionally!!! It’s not very expensive.

Blankspace4 · 04/08/2019 14:48

I recommend benefit’s Gimme Brow. I also have fair brows but find it’s much quicker and easier than a pencil, also looks more natural as you’re brushing on to the hairs that are there rather than drawing on. Im guessing she doesn’t want too drastic a change, just a bit more definition. It comes in a variety of shades and I’m sure the ladies at the Benefit counter (either larger boots or dept store) would be happy to let her try it out.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 04/08/2019 14:51

Also recommend Gimme Brow. All of the Benefit brow stuff is fab. You can also get something that is supposed to help them grow and conditions them.

I lost mine due to chemo and I use Gimme Brow most days.

KatharinaRosalie · 04/08/2019 15:01

take her for a tint, much better to get them professionally done than for her to experiment.

HaileySherman · 04/08/2019 15:06

Try a pencil or they have things that look a lot like mascara wands and texture, but in light colors. Trial and error. I think the mascara like ones have a bit more staying power. I'd think any makeup plce could give some suggestions, like MAC or Sephora.

GetupGetoutside · 04/08/2019 15:10

If she had them tinted she could choose the colour.
The first time I had it done my very fair brows were mid brown, I wanted a bit darker so the therapist just reapplied it and left it a bit longer.

Have you got a local, friendly salon?

TuffersTickler · 04/08/2019 15:17

Maybe go into a good quality department store for their advice on how to use make-up (eyebrow pencils etc) to add some colour and definition.

Heratnumber7 · 04/08/2019 15:20

DH has the same problem. His eyebrows are v fair and practically non existent. But he's a 56 year old bloke so doesn't care.

MistyMinge2 · 04/08/2019 15:24

I would definitely take her to a professional and have them shaped and tinted. Will look much better and she won't have the worry of faffing around with them each morning, especially if she's in a hurry. Also, it's not going to rub off throughout the day.
