Dd’s lack of eyebrows

Rowenaravenclawsdiadem · 04/08/2019 14:11

Dd is being teased at school because her eyebrows are so fair they are almost white and there isn’t a huge amount of hair there either.

I’ve told her to ignore it etc. but she wants to do something about it. What would be the best way? A tint? Bear in mind she is 13!

I think I must be getting old. I remember when bleaching your eyebrows was the in thing. I would suggest getting a tint in a light brown colour so it’s not too obvious if that is definitely what she wants. But if she isn’t sure about it then don’t do it. It will only reinforce the bullying.

I buy the julienne kit (brown) from amazon. You mix up the ingredients and leave on as needed, if you have time over the summer to experiment you can leave on for a very short time initially (25secs) then a bit longer etc... until you find the right shade !

I used to get it done at beauticians and sometimes ended up with hideous colours including one v interesting shade of green (apparently it was my fault because I didn't tell her I had a gene for red hair 🤔)

I use the same kit on my eyelashes but would say you have to be v v careful so close to the eye and wouldn't recommend this until she would be older and able to do it herself confidently!

A brow mascara for light /blonde hairs

I would suggest getting a brow pallette of various colours trying them see how she feels what colour suits her etc. Then when she is comfortable knows what colour she wants go to a salon with the colour on to show them and ask for that colour.

I think in the long run, tinting them is the way to go, if she wants to. But in the first instance go for make up, as she will be able to wash it off if she wants. I’d go to Superdrug and try out some testers. There’s so many to choose from. Maybe ELF brow mascara, as they do a good fair one (taupe?) that’s easy to use and very natural looking and only about £4 or £5. I know from experience that trying to find the right brow product is an expensive business! I’d avoid Rimmel and L’Oreal, they are quite think and difficult to apply. Estée Lauder do a good one, but it’s about £20. Whichever one she tries, wipe the excess off the wand back into the tube first. Plenty of time to experiment over the holidays.

Could you get her a tinted brow gel? Maybe go into boots with her and ask one of the counter employees to show her how to pencil them in naturally. Kids can be so horrible , hopefully she finds a solution!

My brows and lashes are this colour too.

Tint is the way forward.

Children really are so horrible to each other.

I think she should just tint then rather than faffing with makeup.

You can use a brunette brow tint, just leave it on for less time than stated on the packaging, eg if you just want a slight tint then wash it off after 10 seconds instead of 60 seconds.

I am fair so have my eyebrows tinted it's great I'd do that x
