Dd’s lack of eyebrows

Rowenaravenclawsdiadem · 04/08/2019 14:11

Dd is being teased at school because her eyebrows are so fair they are almost white and there isn’t a huge amount of hair there either.

I’ve told her to ignore it etc. but she wants to do something about it. What would be the best way? A tint? Bear in mind she is 13!

I find a powder much easier to use than a pencil and the effect is natural. Even a light brown eyeshadow works.

Namenic · 04/08/2019 15:27

Maybe check thyroid function at gp?

DistantDream · 04/08/2019 15:30

My sister's brows are white.

For the love of god be so so careful about dying them. Every single salon my sister has tried has done them far too dark. They insist they can do a hint of colour but they have never had success!

She now gets her brows waxed into shape and then uses a brow mascara for ginger people. It's perfect! Obv depends on your daughter's colouring.

cinnamonapplex · 04/08/2019 15:30

Bless her, high school children can be horrible over the most minuscule things.

I would opt for taking her to have them professionally tinted, as PP have suggested.
They can advise you on the best colour to suit her.

Morgan12 · 04/08/2019 15:52

Wax and tint for sure.

Idratherbeinbarbados · 04/08/2019 16:00

My DD13 is the same, very fair almost invisible eyebrows. She now has them professionally threaded and tinted and she’s really pleased with the results. It’s a fairly light tint and they look quite natural.

LifeofClimb · 04/08/2019 16:44

What about the maybelline brow tattoo?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 04/08/2019 16:48

I have the same; pencils look stupid on me and when I started colouring them so people stopped taking the pee at school, they then wound me up about that instead...

I'd leave them be, but if she really wants something, a very light pencil or mascara.

Alpacathebag · 04/08/2019 16:50

I use a benefit brow mascara in a light brown just to define mine. I like it, much easier than a pencil because it works with what’s already there too.

Fourth vote floor benefit!

Agree on a very light brow mascara rather than a pencil or powder. Find one for blondes, it should be very grey toned for brows. it should just enhance what's there not be adding a lot of shape or depth at her age especially if she isn't wearing a lot of other makeup.
Alternatively get them tinted, or try at home but go for a much lighter colour than you think.

Its2oclockinthemorning · 04/08/2019 17:33

I think benefit brow zings is better. Had mine 4 years

Oberonunder · 04/08/2019 17:36

Are her eyebrows blonde or white? Mine are full on white and I have never found a make up product that works. Tinting does work but comes out very fast so is a pain to keep up. I have given up now, it’s just too much faff.

Aqueo517 · 04/08/2019 17:40

If you go down the tinting route be very very careful! I few of my friends have had very bad experiences where they’re turned out black!

I’d go for a light brown pencil and a clean mascara wand and build up very gradually.

If she likes the look the you can think about getting them professionally done but I wouldn’t dive straight in with dying them.

Rowenaravenclawsdiadem · 04/08/2019 17:56

Eye pic attached, they are just very very light blonde.

Most of the nail bars and beauticians do tint.

I have my eyelashes and eyebrows done, when I remember.

I thoroughly recommend it for your DD, because it'll last for 6-8 weeks = no daily maintenance. That's important!

Oblomov19 · 04/08/2019 18:17

Now I've seen photo, Definitely get eyelashes and eyebrows dyed. Tint. Totally painless.

Oblomov19 · 04/08/2019 18:18

I have my eyelashes dyed blue/black.

And my eyebrows done a light brown.

tierraJ · 04/08/2019 19:01

Is she allowed to wear makeup at school?

I have blonde eyebrows & lashes.

I use Clinique Soft Blonde Superfine Liner for brows. It's about £15 but worth it!!

Then I use Clinique high impact black mascara but I guess any brown, black or browny black mascara would do.

Once she gets used to the look of darker brows & lashes she could get tints etc.

tierraJ · 04/08/2019 19:04

Meant to say she does look pretty naturally though & it's a shame other people can be bitchy.

I remember aged 11 onwards it was all about how you looked at school, what a nightmare! Eyebrows weren't a thing though until sixth form when we had to pluck them as thin as possible, thank god I didn't go too mad!

Rowenaravenclawsdiadem · 04/08/2019 19:19

Obviously I think she is beautiful as she is. But she has had too many people make comments now and she is getting really upset and paranoid.

I think she can wear very light make up to school but if the teachers can see it. It has to go.
