Please help with Birkenstock sizing, i normally wear a size 7. I think from memory that their sizing is not straight forward.

I go a size down. Birks are wide!

lumpy76 · 03/08/2019 21:11

I go down a size too. I'm a Clark's 5 and get a 4 (37) in Birkenstock's. DH does the same.

JW13 · 03/08/2019 21:14

I'm a 7 but I have a 39 in the Arizonas. I tried a 40 and they were too big.

currentlyoutoftheoffice · 03/08/2019 21:15

Size down, I'm a 6 (39) and I buy a 38

dudsville · 03/08/2019 21:17

I go a size up! I'm a clarks 6, eu 39, but west a 40 in birks. Your foot is meant to be within the bed, not pushing the edges. If you read their guidelines it helps but honestly if you haven't worn them before it's worth getting to a shop or ordering a couple of sizes. Also re the narrow/wide width choice, if they didn't have the narrow I wouldn't be able to wear them.

Pepperstripe · 03/08/2019 21:17

On their website you can buy narrower sizes. I bought a 4.5 slim fit last time.

Jupiter13 · 03/08/2019 21:30

I always go a size down. It always work for me.

daffydowndilys · 03/08/2019 21:49

Thanks, I have had them before but not for a good 10-15 years. I might see if I can get to try some on this week.

I think they sell them in Shuh?

bernietaupinspen · 03/08/2019 21:54

I'm a 5, i go down a size.

Cataline · 03/08/2019 22:16

They do sell them in Schuh and also Office. I stick with the same size in their regular fit but my feet are really flat and spread out loads!

You want your foot to be entirely within the raised footbed edges though- they look (and feel!) awful when your toes or heels creep over. Worth trying them on in you can.

chatwoo · 04/08/2019 03:36

I go down a size as well (in the regular not narrow fit). There's a size guide on the website as well, where you measure the length of your foot and translate into Birkie sizing.

hellenbackagen · 04/08/2019 03:40

I made this mistake. So size down I'm normally a 4 so I ordered 4.5 and it was way too big
3.5 fit perfectly.

They only do half sizes so just go down To the size below your normal.

LucheroTena · 04/08/2019 07:27

Looking at people most are wearing them too small, with their feet creeping over the raised edges. They are made to size. The website measuring guide will give you the correct size.

Ineedtoknowit · 04/08/2019 08:19

I’ve also seen a lot of people with their toes over or pushing against the raised edges. Looks weird and the website warns against this

Macarena1990 · 04/08/2019 08:34

I'm a size 4, but need a size 5 in Birkenstock's

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 04/08/2019 08:42

www.birkenstock.com/gb/passform/knowledge-fit.html

I order my normal size. Lots of people wear them way too small, there should be a gap at the front and the back of the shoe.

taybert · 04/08/2019 10:16

That size guide says the gap should be “a few mm” - that’s not much of a gap. If I get my normal size there’s a big gap, if I size down it’s not much but there are a few mm. The smaller size just feel right on my feet, the arch support is in the right place, the edges don’t catch or rub and when they’ve been worn a few times I usually need to tighten the straps because they loosen up. I bought my usual size once and whilst they were fine when I tried them on, it was clear after a few wears that they were too big.
