High-necked midi, yea or nay?

I think I like it, but it's not cheap and I'm not sure it's hitting me in the most flattering place.

Lousy picture but best I could do.

Not sure it does that much for you....you look like you’ve got a nicer figure than it’s giving you, it’s a bi5 booby with the high neck.

CarafeOfTheFinestWine · 03/08/2019 17:24

Great waist by the way.

CmdrCressidaDuck · 03/08/2019 17:29

Cheers Grin it's an interesting fit. I don't normally look that booby and I normally wear an 8, that's a 10 and I certainly wouldn't get anything smaller over my boobs.

This is it on the website: uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_1,mon_1.2/7479810708

No.

It's gonna be out of fashion by next year - that buttoned up school marm thing has a very short shelf life. If it was cheap, fine - but not if its pricey.

And tbh you do look school marm in it. And you've a better figure than it's showing.

The puff sleeves/shoulder area is making you look like you have a really small head. I’m pretty sure your head is a normal size and you look like you have a great figure under all of that dress so it’s a no from me.

StarlightLady · 03/08/2019 17:45

I think a scooped neck would be more flattering.

Floisme · 03/08/2019 17:49

The midi dresses I’ve seen have been much looser fitting and not really about showing off your figure. I think that’s why it’s looking a bit off to me.

CmdrCressidaDuck · 03/08/2019 17:50

I'll take that as a resounding "nay" then!

Back to the drawing board for a few nice dresses for the season. Oddly enough high necks usually look really good on me as they suit my pixie cut, but I am moderately curvy and clearly this one is not doing the business.

I love it! Beautiful colour and really unusual. I'd wear it with Birks or high wedges in metallic.

Paraballa · 03/08/2019 18:03

You could always shorten it if you feel the length is unflattering. I really like the sleeves and think it looks pretty classic.

Letthemysterybe · 03/08/2019 18:33

I think it is a lovely colour and you look great in it. I’m desperate for a green midi but I really could not pull off that shape.

CmdrCressidaDuck · 03/08/2019 19:39

I actually like the length fine. What I don't really like is where the waistband is placed - it's above my natural waist and is making it more or less an empire line. Either that dress is cut for only the flat-chested or it's sized really small

A lot of dresses have silly high waistbands at the mo. You look great, but if you're constantly yanking it down, that's just annoying.

Good colour on you. Try Ghost in the sale - they cut for women and are smarter and more comfortable.

MulberryPeony · 03/08/2019 20:36

I love it. I played chicken with the blue version earlier this year so thanks for the tip off that it’s back but in green.

llangennith · 03/08/2019 21:01

Looks like dresses Amish women wear.

zippyswife · 03/08/2019 21:23

I love it. I think you look cute and quirky in it. If that’s the look you’re going for. It’s not particularly fashionable imho but I don’t think that matters. I love that colour.
